DO NOT COME HERE!!!! Let me begin by saying I used to love this place! The food was always delicious and fast. Unfortunately this place has not handled the pandemic well. Unsure if they lost quality staff or what happened but this place is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE now. We came with a party of 6 of us on a Monday and ate on the patio. The waitress barely visited our table and we had to ask multiple times for things. After almost an hour, our food finally arrived. The chicken fajitas had a long hair in the food, which we overlooked giving the benefit of the doubt. The young food runner who brought our dinners out then informed us that one of the dishes that he brought out was not actually for us and he had to take it back. After walking away with the dish, he ran back to ask if it had been eaten off of because he had to give it to another table. He then hurried off and handed it right over to another table. After waiting a few more minutes the last dish finally came out and we finally were able to enjoy. One person in our party had gotten the chicken fajita salad and after a few bites she noticed that there was no chicken in the salad at all. We couldn’t even tell the waitress because she never returned so we walked up to the front to get an employee. When they came back to the table to show her there was no chicken, this girl told us that they would have to take the whole salad away from her and it would be about 10 more minutes for a new one with chicken. Our party member told her that she did not want them to take the salad but rather just bring out the chicken, so that she can continue to eat with our family. The girl told us that she would be charged for two salads then if she wanted to keep the salad to eat. When we began questioning her logic and asked for a manager she got extremely defensive and began shouting at us that she was the manager and that we can leave if we were going to be disrespectful, then she stormed off. We were in shock and disbelief at how unprofessional this supposed manager was acting all over some chicken! I’ve never experienced anything like this and I am sad to say that I will never ever dine here again after this experience. Such a shame it used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. Go to El Nibble...
Read moreI want this review to hopefully be constructive, because the lakes area has such a poor selection of restaurants and the consumers in the area seem to have incredibly low standards. I'd like to see success for anyone that is willing to open a restaurant and try around here - it seems to be very difficult to succeed.
From the outside the building doesn't look particularly inviting, it reminds me of a Moose Lodge or something. But the inside has been finished nicely to give it a nice ambiance, it's a lot brighter than it was in previous establishments at this location. 1 star for that.
My party only had water to drink, and one of our water glasses was filthy on the outside. The draught beer appeared to come in generous portions, judging from a huge frosty mug we saw delivered to another patron. I can't judge the margaritas either, they could be good. I have a concern about the "house margarita" that was behind the bar in a drink dispenser. The dispenser didn't have a lid on it, with a spoon inside to stir the mix before pouring. While I understand the spoon, the lack of lid is probably a health code violation. Fruit flies and such could easily get into the dispenser.
The chips were fine, I like them a little thinner and saltier. The salsa was good, thin and runny, similar to some other restaurants that i enjoy. 1 star for salsa and giant frosty beer mugs.
We ordered queso, which we never received, but it also wasn't on our bill. I ordered steak fajitas, which were chopped to unrecognizable bits, tough, and effectively flavorless. The sizzle platter wasn't sizzling. Judging by the texture, I suspect the fajitas had been reheated in a microwave and served on the warm platter. The other members of my group also did not enjoy their food, saying it had no flavor. One of the orders was incorrect also, instead of beef she received chicken. We were all very hungry after a long day on the lake, so we still ate. I did not take my leftovers, however. Service was quite slow, the man that took our order wasn't outwardly friendly, he seemed tired. The woman behind the bar that helped him was very pleasant.
Greek Jalapeno across the street and Andele off Carroll Lake both make superior fajitas, so I probably will not be back...

I hate to be very critical, but if one is to open a new restaurant where Dobski's was located, you better bring your restaurant "A" game.
Dobski's Sweet Lorraine's Mac n' Brewz Sweet Lorraine's Lake Tavern Don Juan Mexican Restaurant
Of these, only Dobski's has been successful. The others to come stand it it's place had lackluster food, service - and management ran them right into the ground.
I'm not sure if it's the same owner putting a different name on the same building, but someone is 0 for 3. Some serious changes need to take place if Don Juan's is going to make it a few more months.
For starters, the food was just simply okay. Chips & salsa came right away (thankfully, the kids were restless), but the salsa was ho-hum. It took forever to get drinks, then an overpriced, under-portioned guacamole appetizer, then entrees.
They brought a chicken fajita plate that was supposed to be shrimp fajitas, and the table next to us received a grilled cheese sandwich they never ordered. Orders were being goofed up all over the restaurant.
The entrees were were very bland, at prices much higher than El Patio & Mexico Lindo.
Drink orders never came.
I don't blame the waiter for the slow service - I blame the management. They didn't have enough wait staff. I get it - yes, it's a new restaurant, they are "working the kinks out" - but that excuse was played out TWO RESTAURANTS AGO.
This poor fellow had too many tables, and the kitchen couldn't keep up anyway.... I took care of our waiter, but I'm sure he had quite a few unhappy campers in his section...
Ugh, this place is just a giant train wreck. I feel like it might have a small snowball's chance of being a successful Mexican Restaurant, but then, we already have 2 better alternatives nearby.
Which, is the whole point of this place, to try something different.
I'm going to go back to El Patio like I always do - for great food & great service at a great price. If you are craving that margarita you'll have to go to Lindo.
I can't in good conscience recommend this restaurant. I'd just advise you to steer clear until they get their stuff together (and reviews begin to reflect that), or go out...
