The salsa is straight tomato paste! Just awful.
This is a long standing area restaurant. I was I introduced to Mexico Lindo by my boyfriend (BF)who is an area local. I was not too impressed at my first visit. My carnitas were dry. The cheese I ordered on top was over cooked like it sat under the broiler. Chips and salsa was pretty good. I did not write a review as at times we hit a location on a so called “ Bad Day.”
So it took us two years to go back. Happens right ?LOL. The place is looking very run down. It used to be cheery when you walked in. Energetic staff welcoming you. There was one pretty cheery staff member but other staff was sitting at the door. When we left the cheer member was absent and staff was again, just sitting. Our table had that old almost sticky film on top. They were not busy and food was smeared on the floor from previous customers. Our Chips and salsa came out. Initially I thought they gave us two little cups of ketchup. It sure looked that way, a very thick ketchup. And one small cup of which resembled diced stewed tomatoes. Well, the ketchup cups which I think would be regular salsa was plain old tomato paste. There may have been an occasional piece of some kind of spice but … yep plain tomato paste. You could almost stand your knife in it. The “ Hot Salsa” was unimpressive even when we tried to mix the two. My boyfriend who is very familiar with this Establishment was shocked at the change in salsas. His comment” I hope this is not setting the pace for dinner…” was pretty spot on. We ordered the Queso Dip. At my first bite I could not help remarking “ This tastes like soap or some chemical.” At my next two taste tests I could not figure out why. Then it dawned on me, they must put cilantro in their queso dip. UGH “I love me some cilantro” but not heated up in Queso. Queso from other restaurants, in my experience, have not counted on cilantro is their primary flavor. We just could not get past the taste. On to my BF’s chicken enchiladas. Meh, not so great. No flavor. Now onto my combo plate: taco, burrito and my fav pork stew. Yuck, yuck, and yuck. Again a pile of foods with no flavor. The pork was almost tender but lacked any flavor. They use pork that is either slow cooked/braised/boiled, not sure? It becomes the carnitas and they just put some unnamed unflavored gravy over the pork and call it pork stew. I did not eat much as it was just that unappetizing. Oh, I ate the melted cheese I had requested on top. Girls got to eat! The rest I just left. It is sad that I can home and with only salt and pepper ( I would use more than just this when at home;)Just sayin’ here! ) prepare better pork. There appears to be a lack of attention to a plentiful bounty of food. Perhaps there had been a change in owners/management?
I understand living in the almost pos-pandemic phase that staff may be learning a new restaurant but come on now. It is strange times as we learn to adjust our lives to something we never expected to happen, however, the food itself should be on point. I don’t mind staff still learning a menu, lack of staff to fully seat customers nor slow service. We are all learning!!! I do mind that the focus on the food I am paying for...
Read moreThe atmosphere is set up like a Cantina style Mexican restaurant, with Spanish music playing. It does have a "fun" vibe but when your coming to a bar/restaurant you expect the food would be edible and im sorry to say NOTHING I ordered was that! The food is less than subpar. The Manager was very sweet and professional and took the criticism of the food well and said she would talk to her kitchen staff about serving cold dishes. I ordered the make-your-own combo:Tinga, chicken crispy taco, ground beef taco, rice and beans. The food was absolutely horrible! The WORST "Mexican" food I have EVER had in my ENTIRE LIFE!!! If you are used to traditional Mexican food please do not eat here. The food was served all one temperature....COLD! The Chicken Tinga was disgustingly sweet and when I asked the waitress Crystal, why it tasted like that she said they put BBQ SAUCE IN IT!!! The hamburger meat for the ground beef taco was cold, greasy, bland, and flavorless. The chicken taco also cold bland and with a very odd "red sauce" that leaves a horrible aftertaste. I took one bite to taste everything and could not stomach this food. The taste literally TURNED MY STOMACH! This is NOT AUTHENTIC MEXICAN CUISINE. They shouldn't even have that on the restaurant because it is very misleading and FALSE ADVERTISING. The waitress did not ask me if I liked the food, I told her it was the worst food I've had in my life and she proceeded to tell me that this plate was their best seller and walked off after leaving the bill. If the Assistant Manager had not have passed by it was very obvious the waitress could have cared less. They comped my meal for half price but truthfully, that meal wasn't fit for a dog! I left and asked them to throw it where it belongs....in the garbage!! Total waste of money for something that had one bite of it all because it was SO BAD...I shouldn't have been charged but no loss because I will NEVER try this place again and I highly recommend anyone with tastebuds or an appetite eat...
Read moreI have lived in Waterford pretty much my entire life and grew up eating here and it's always great food. The biggest issue is the service no matter what time of day it is, the service is HORRIBLE. The past 5 years everytime we go the servers are terrible, takes forever for them to come to the table to greet you and then when you put your order in 99% they don't write it down. The biggest issue with this is then when your food comes out wrong they give you and attitude or say "oh they didn't take that out one second it will be really quick" then you wait 15-20 minutes for your food to come out corrected and everyone else at your table is done eating. We stopped going 2 years ago because I couldn't handle the service. Tonight we decided to give them one last try and yup same issue. Our food came out and my husband had to ask for the pico he originally asked for (which took 5 minutes for her to bring back to the table) and I had to send my food back because it was made incorrectly, 15 minutes later my food came out and my husband's was gone. Our server was sitting in a booth with another server for a while and when she finally brought my food, I put in a dessert order in when she dropped off my food and after 20 minutes I asked if she put it in and for the check and she said yes they are coming right up... we waited another 10 minutes before they came out. The table behind us had similar problems. Its really sad because the food is always good but it's honestly not worth it to go here and deal with the service. This unfortunately will be the...
