I've wanted to try Erica's for quite a while and finally had an opportunity to go for breakfast. I'm sad to say I was quite disappointed. The main dish, Irish Eggs Benedict was overall mediocre. The eggs were almost poached hard and there was very little hollandaise sauce, and since there was almost no runny yoke, it would've helped balance the savoriness of the corned beef hash, which itself was alright for the most part. My waitress asked when I ordered if I wanted home fries, and I figured I'd give them a try since it was my first time there, even at the extra expense (which are usually included most places). Sadly, this was the wrong decision, as the home fries came cold, with some quite rubbery, some still crunchy and not cooked through, and when the waitress came to ask how my food was, I informed her how awful the home fries were. Her response was, and I quote, "Yeah, they're not very good. If you ask next time, they can deepfry them instead. But, would you like some ketchup for them to see if that helps?" I was kind of shocked that she just outright said they weren't good after asking if I wanted to order any, at the extra expense, and then offered ketchup to try to make their awfulness somehow less noticeable... So, I accepted her offer for some reason, though I really didn't want to try any more of them since they were so unappetizing, and she retrieved a bottle of ketchup, walked towards me, dropped it on the floor in front of me, picked it up and handed it to me... I set it on the table and went back to my eggs benedict. Just a few minutes after this interaction I finished my coffee and waited for my waitress to come around so I could ask for a refill, but for the next 15 minutes I didn't see her anywhere, and finally gave up and just finished the rest of my meal, sans home fries. The next time I saw her, she walked over and have me my bill, and still hadn't asked if I wanted more coffee, and retrieved my full plate of home fries, which I paid for, since they were still on my bill and I had to run for an appointment, so I didn't feel like asking for them to be taken off the bill and have her gone for another 15 minutes, or drop anything else on the floor to hand me. I almost feel like I'm being overly harsh, but I was genuinely shocked by how horrible the service was, and the general customer service itself, asking if I wanted something my server thought wasn't good, and then after not even eating it due to it living up to expectations, not being offered a refund on it. This feels odd to say at this point, but I am so easy going and positive that it takes a whole heap of "what the heck" to get me to write a negative review. It just all piled up to a really distasteful experience, and I was quite...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to try this restaurant because we had heard good things about the food. I ordered the seafood chowder, which was very good. My wife ordered the eggs benidict and she wanted her eggs done medium because she doesn't like the white near the yoke "snotty" as we call it. Well it came snotty so she asked the waitress if she could just have what I was having instead. She got the manager and my wife explained again to her what happened. She was not happy, she took the plate of food and stormed off. The waitress came back and my wife ordered. So we ate it and then received the check. My was priced normal but my wife had a charge for her roll and the chowder was an extra $1. She proceeded to ask why it costed different then mine and her response was this, "you insulted her food and attacked their chefs" Then she proceeded to say, "I checked the eggs and they where done perfectly fine" Well my wife and I saw it very differently and told her that wasn't true and she argued with us and said, "when you go to a Chinese restaurant and substitute something off their menu it's an up charge of a dollar so that is why it's a dollar more." We explained how that is not at all the same thing. It wasn't cooked right. She said again about insulting her and her chiefs. Finally she told us she would take the dollar off if it means that much to us.. needless to say we will NEVER...
Read moreFirstly, it should be stated for those that don't know, that Waterville is not a Mecca for an abundance of places to eat. A handful are amazing, an the better ones are pricey. This being said, I'm not opposed to pricey, IF the quality can back up the cost. I went with a friend for brunch. There was a bit of a wait - not counting this in my review. But where I mentioned previously about Waterville's offerings for places to eat, breakfast and brunch places are very few, so I get it. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which were very good though nothing "special" about them, and I would say fairly priced at like $10.50 or something. I also ordered the iced coffee flight, because brunch, and this is where my disappointment starts. The flavors were all cookie themed, which was exciting. I've had great iced coffee flights - this was not one of them. Not only did all of the coffees taste the same (the thin mint was the only one that had the slightest hint of what it was supposed to be), the coffee wasn't outstanding, and the four small drinks cost $18.50. $18.50 for small, subpar boozey iced coffees is a bit ridiculous. The service was good, the place was clean. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. Other areas are really stepping up their brunch game, I'd hope for better in the...
