My first experience at Ozzy’s was a takeout order for lunch. I called ahead and ordered the meatball sliders. I was told my food would take about 10-15 minutes. Upon arriving to the Pizzeria 18 minutes after placing my order, I made my way to the back of the sitting area where I saw a counter with a tablet and payment terminal. There was no employee present at the counter and I wasn’t greeted by either of the two employees working in the open kitchen toward the entrance. There was one other couple in the restaurant. They also seemed confused on where to sit in order to receive some service. After a couple minutes a staff member came out to help take my payment for lunch. Unfortunately, my order wasn’t ready yet and I waited a few more minutes for it to be finished. Not the smoothest experience but overall not bad since I knew my food had not been sitting around getting cold.
I live close by so I was able to eat the sandwiches within minutes of leaving the restaurant. They were warm and delicious. The sliders were really good. The bread tasted great. There was just the right amount of meatballs, sauce, and cheese for each slider. I like that they topped each slider with some grated cheese and herbs. The meatballs and sauce had a nice flavor. 3 sliders was more than enough food for me. Overall the quality and quantity of the food was a good value for the price. I would order the sliders again, but I would like to try one of their wood fired...
Read moreI am going to proclaim that Ozzy's has one of the best pizzas we've ever had. Hands down. Just as good as Tony's Napoletana in SF and A Slice of New York in San Jose.
We sat at the pizza bar where we could watch them make them toss, bake, and dress the pizzas! We met the owner Tim and he was really nice. A sweet, proud grandpa with a LEGENDARY pizza background.
We ordered Ozzy's Mama: House made Italian sausage, olive oil, garlic, and parmesan. Finished with burrata, habanero jelly and orange zest. The moment the pizza arrives, your senses are filled with the fresh scent of oranges. Have you ever ridden Soarin' Over California? IYKYK.
The sweet n' spicy habanero jelly literally melted into the stretchy, creamy, milky stracciatella. It was the definition of a Flavor Bomb. And the orange zest gave it that sumthin' sumthin'. Tim is a flavor artist.
He was super cute and gave us some crunchy, refreshing sesame oil and rice vinegar slaw to try, and sweet orange slices for dessert.
What a hidden gem in a Watsonvillle strip mall. We will...
Read moreWe were camping in the area, and Ozzys was one of the first places that popped up on Yelp, so we tried it out. The open kitchen concept was fun, especially for kids and families. It allowed you to see them assembling the pizzas. It's a wood fire oven, which I absolutely love! I can't eat pizza often anymore because the tomato sauce at the chain restaurants just doesn't sit well with my stomach, so I was happy to read they use a homemade sourdough crust and gluten-free sauce. We ordered the Laura Lynn and were curious about the orange sauce. I didn't mind it. My finance wasn't a fan. We ordered the jalapeño poppers with bacon. I feel like you can never mess those up. The char on top was a nice touch. I believe it was the owner who stopped by to chat with us. He was friendly. The decor and small touches like the paper menu for the bar were hip. Those little details really made it feel unique. We definitely want to try everything on the menu. Next time, we will order the meatballs...
