Uncle D's Bar & Grille — Restaurant in Wauconda

My husband and I stopped into Uncle D's on November 11th, 2023 for lunch in the early afternoon. Not lunch (Noon) mind you. It was Veterans Day. There were about 6 gentlemen at the bar, one table of 4 people and one table with two people when we walked in. We sat at a table near the table of two. The bartender was a young guy and was getting drinks for the men at the bar and brought food to the four person table behind us. We sat at the table for 15 minutes waiting for the bartender to at least acknowledge us with a "I will be with you in a moment", get our drink order and menus. But NO. He didn't even do that when he walked right by our table AND did a side glance so he KNEW we were there. I have only been to this place once before and that was a disaster with the ladies bathroom having a really strong sewer smell. Needless to say, we will never bother with this place again. We drove to Riverside Pub in Mchenry where the owner took our drink order and menus and said Hello two minutes after sitting down. Uncle D's bartender on that shift needs to learn customer service. Uncle D's is great. It's more of a bar than a restraunt. It has a video slots room, electronic darts, and a good size bar that takes up most of the establishment. There's only about ten booths but most nights you don't need to wait to be seated. They just opened up a new outdoor patio area which seems to be attracting a lot of patrons. There's a fair selection of beer both on tap and bottled. The bar is also well stocked with liquor. The have a good menu with some really good dishes, appetizers, soups, chili, sandwiches, salads, burgers, pastas, fish fry, and more. Prices are pretty fair for the quality and quantity of food. The chef, Pete, takes a lot of pride in preparing and serving everything. A nice local casual place to meet friends, enjoy a meal, have a drink or two and watch a ball game on one of their many...

I usually go here to get ribs for take home. They are quite good. They've got great macaroni salad and onion rings. Service has always been with a smile. Looks like a fun place to hang out and have a beer. I recommend... Just had to Re-Comment. I called to order ribs again and was told they only sell half racks of ribs. I don't even get that....Some businesses simply don't get it. And no, I'm not stupid enough to buy 2 half rack baskets when I want a whole slab and the sides.
