Words cannot describe how much this place means to me, or this town. Drip and culture is an amazing coffee shop located in the back of GonzĂĄlez Supermercado off of Grand in Waukegan. Being born and raised here, Iâve been going here with my mother since I was young. Adam, the owner, absolutely slam dunked on his vision with this coffee shop. The ambiance is something that goes unmatched especially in todays age where it feels like everywhere else bends to trends. At Drip and Culture they are really good at flowing with these trends and spinning things to make them their own. His wife, Nydia has a really sick shop upstairs(GATHR) where you can find some really neat stuff. Great place to shop for gifts. On the weekend you can usually find some sort of home made baked good or sweet treat. All the desserts are super duper fire and $leep certified. Sundays they got some really fire empanadas, from a local woman named Brenda(her brand is Queen B). If youâre not a coffee drinker they got really refreshing drinks as well. But the coffee is definitely the best Iâve ever had. I fell in love with the Ube latte and itâs hard not to get it every time I go. But they do have a really good summer menu so Iâm excited to try all the new drinks! Definitely sign up for the rewards program you can save a lot of money by earning those points! Shout out Drip and Culture for uplifting our community! We see the vision you have and the path youâve laid ! Thank you for making our home town...

I had a Bourbon, Creme Brule "fancy" latte. Not too syrupy and delicious. Bonus points to the young lady barrista for suggesting that my fancy coffee will compliment my fancy outfit. Also, she broke out the blowtorch to create a proper Creme Brule. Met the owner, forgot his name (sorry) but very down to earth.
Tables for games or laptop work. Some cool things to buy. A tiny lending library. Nicely done.
Update: went back.
My favorite coffee from the Canary Islands is called Leche Leche. It's equal parts sweetened condensed milk, steamed milk, and espresso. It's sweet, smooth, and packs a punch.
Jay the Barista was kind enough to indulge me to make one and it came out wonderful.
The lounge is 2 couches and an area rug but it's taken directly from a 1977 living room. I sat there watching the original Star Wars played on a 25" Magnavox color console TV played off of a VHS. Retro done right.
It's not easy to find. It's located towards the back of Supermercado GonzĂĄlez (inside the supermarket) located at 2015 Grand in Waukegan (1 block...
Read moreA long overdue review. I was never a regular of the big green logo chain, so to become a regular here for me was not based out of past habits but built out of the love for the people, the drinks, and the community that make Drip and Culture special. Quality wise there is no match. You can taste the coffee and espresso in all of their drinks because you're supposed to; they aren't trying to hide behind anything. Their syrups are all house made, utilized for thoughtful, experimental, and bold drinks that you won't find anywhere else, but they also aren't slouching on the classic lattes. They support local businesses through popups, night markets, and partnerships in the cafe. You can join the run club and find out that the vibe they maintain in the store exists there too. You can learn at their cooking demos and other programming throughout the year. This is not your ordinary coffee shop and it would be weird if they were. They are a community institution and they're only getting better each day. Easily one of my favorite places...
