Haven't had Ming Toy in sooo long. This was the spot growing up! Always on point!! Made Waukegan proud!
.... fast forward to now...
Surprisingly, I didn't smell anything when I walked in. That was a red flag. You should ALWAYS smell food in a restaurant.
They didn't have orange chicken, or chicken on a stick. Plus, the menu is nothing like before. It's minimal. Now, I ordered $60 worth of food, just to get home and it look, smell, and taste extremely low budget. Very disappointing! VERY.
Everything I got was either undercooked, cold, or not portioned correctly. Meaning, 4-5 strips of meat, and the rest of the container full of vegetables and sauce.
I bagged everything back up, and took it all back. I never do this... but, $60 is a lot of money to put in a garbage can. On my way to get my money back, my stomach started hurting. This was a saddening and frustrating experience.
Ming Toy, I encourage you to do 1000% better, before the health inspector steps in. Or, step down gracefully. Respectfully, know when to close your doors.
P.S. Easy on the MSG, I was anxious the rest...
Read moreI will start by saying that this is, in part, my fault. So, before going to a restaurant I always check their reviews. I read a few negative reviews that were posted here recently about Ming Toy in Waukegan but decided to ignore them because most people were giving 4 to 5 stars. So, I went ahead and ordered orange chicken and pork fried rice. When I got home and opened the bag I found a container of white rice instead. That floored me but I decided to just go ahead and eat it. Well, half way through with my orange chicken I found nothing but broccoli. Yes, they filled almost 1/2 of the chicken container with broccoli. Hmm...Needles to say, I was very disappointed. I will get my Chinese food somewhere else...
Read moreMy boyfriend has ordered from this place many times and is a regular. I am new to the area. The first time I Tried it absolutely loved this place. Had my in-laws over. They enjoyed this place too. Iâve traveled from California to Texas to Chicago and I can honestly say this place is hands-down on the top of my list. If I had to recommend something to order, I would say the shrimp Kung pao, the noodles, combination fried rice, the beef kung pao, and the egg rolls. It wonât disappoint. Speedy service as well.. Only thing some wonât like is that they accept cash only, well thereâs an ATM not far from the place....
