Chatterbox Bar — Restaurant in Wausau

My fiance and I aren't from the area, but we happened upon the Chatterbox Bar and we decided to grab some dinner. Upon walking in, there is an immediate friendly, cozy atmosphere. The menu includes soups, sandwiches, appetizers, and other yummy choices. We chose to try the loaded tater tots and fried cheese curds for our starters, both of which were excellent. The coating on the cheese curds was light enough that it wasn't overwelming or greasy, but just thick enough to add a textural golden exterior. For entrees, we both chose fish, as it's Friday in Wisconsin. My fiance chose the traditional fish fry with sweet potato French fries, and I chose the fried fish sandwich. I haven't been here in years. My friends and I used to come here for drinks after work. I had only eaten appetizers in the past. My friend suggested we come here for lunch after rave reviews from another friend. The first thing I took note of was the fantastic service. What a welcoming bunch of folks! Chatty, personable, smiley, and I never had to ask for a refill. I was pleasantly surprised at the numerous things on the menu. Happy Friday for me - I got the walleye fish fry. My friend had the BLT. We sat outside and enjoyed the music and flowers. I was able to pay my bill by scanning a QR code on my receipt. For the first time, my family & I visited this spot on a Friday night for music and food, and we were thoroughly impressed. The food was exceptional, and the rich history of the place added to the experience. Despite how busy it was, the service was remarkably attentive. The burgers & wraps were among the best in town, and the fish fry was absolutely delicious. I’m honestly disappointed I didn’t discover this establishment sooner.
