TL;DR at the end. I stopped here on a whim. Walking in it looks to be a converted GW. But that's where this little place takes off and shows you that it has the heart to bring you into the family. I went in about 830a, half the tables were taken, I won't say that it felt like I walked into a real life version of the happy ending of the "Princess and the Frog. But it is really, really hard not to. The waitress (I later found out she was the owner) was gliding around to all the tables with the air about her that matched a smile that never left. During my meal "Daddy" came out and showed the guest an enthusiastic welcome, I even laughed out loud at how honest and happy it was. (this is way too rare!) The food was amazing, I ordered a omlet, loaded hash browns, toast, with a side of gravy. I wish I could have sat there and truly savored it (time was not my friend that day). I'll be back for more.
TL;DR Tatiana and her daddy opened up an amazing diner with amazing food. Smiles and a welcome that makes you feel like family and the only thing missing was Tatiana opening up into song like she did in the movie. Tatiana is not really her name (she is the owner) and the day I went she was...
Read moreWhere is the menu? Why does it say get a quote and the grand opening from latest year is the first thing you see? Smh. Customer service is good sometimes, and awful others. I don’t think the main waitress realizes she isn’t doing justice to the business owners…. When someone calls make sure your attitude doesn’t show through the phone, in person she was pleasant but on the phone I’d give her a D+. Also, when your store promotes being open till 4:00pm, at 3:40 do not turn customers away or tell them only certain things are available “ooo idk, what do you guys want?” Otherwise change your google listing to day kitchen closes at whatever time, because when people go out of their way to come and get turned away/treated like a bother … it just makes it hard to want to come back and support this local small business… Customer service is everything, and so far I can feel the effort but am sorry to say they have fallen short of a good experience. No complaints on the food both times I ordered were great :) but I do miss webs 24 hour...
Read moreMy daughter and I stopped in the other day for the first time, while looking for a new place to have breakfast. I ordered the catfish with greens and sweet potatoes for sides. The catfish was really good - perfectly cooked with the right amount of seasoning. However, the greens were horribly salty and sweet potatoes were okay. I wish the meal came with cornbread instead of two flat and greasy pieces of white bread. My daughter enjoyed her breakfast plate of sausage patties, eggs, hashbrowns and grits. I would like to point out that the service was really slow and poor. We needed a few things that were not offered and had to flag down another worker to get them. Our server did not check on us until the end. We are in the restaurant hospitality business as well and our top priority is making our customers feel like guests in our home every time they step foot in the door. It was an awkward first experience and sadly, we did not feel...
