Stopped in tonight for the first time to try Hui's. Many times, I have driven past and never stopped in. When you first enter the doors, you can tell that this place has been here for many years. Everything was neat and clean and well decorated. We were greeted by our server and taken to our table. After a short conversation with her, we came to find out that this place had been here for over 50 years, and our server has been there for 30 of those years. We got the menu that had hand written adjustments on it (to me, that has a kind of charm). We selected the crab Rangoon and the beef with fresh ginger and scalions. This dish reminded me of classic Chinese food, one that has been unfortunately changed over time. But not here, you could tell the food was prepared the old ways. Lots of flavor, tender meat and fresh vegetables, simple but delicious. I would recommend this place and I will return to try other dishes. I recommend giving places like this a try because unfortunately one day they might all be gone.
I myself own and run a food related business and have been in the industry for almost 20 years. I know how hard it is and how easy it is for others to quickly try to tear down years of work you put into it. I say this because a 1 star review holds a lot of weight and outweighs so many good 4-5 star reviews. Please remember that as you...
Read moreThe exterior is so unassuming, boasting of red glass tiles and no windows. However, when you step inside, you are transported into a Cantonese inspired eatery. The ceiling tile was nicely arranged, and the seating and decor ties everything together beautifully. I noticed that each table was extendable in some way which I thought was really cool. I’m sure the functionality makes for great transitions when serving large parties. As we sat down, we were greeted by two hosts, who provided wonderful service throughout our dinner. The young lady turned the channel to a Disney movie for our little ones, which really helped to curve their anxiousness while waiting. I ordered the General Tso’s dinner which I finished in the restaurant, my mom and the littles ordered orange chicken, shrimp fried rice, cabbage, crab Rangoon and dumplings. The kids and I enjoyed our food, my mom felt more meh about the flavor.
Personally, I’ll go back. They stated they’re working on their liquor license so soon cocktails will be added to the menu which is an added bonus for...
Read moreThis place is so great! Cantonese food is the best type of Chinese food there is and there are many Chinese restaurants closer to me but I’ll pass them all by just to come here. Eat in/pick up/delivery.... It is so worth the drive and Rose is just so sweet and makes sure she knows her customers. They have a buffet but I prefer to order off the menu. Pick up food is always nice and hot and everything is fresh. Even if you don’t like traditional Chinese food, you will love most of the dishes in a Cantonese restaurant and Huis is just the place to go. Even if you are mostly a take out type of person, you have to eat in at least once and experience the hospitality that Rose gives. They are not slow, but she pays attention to everyone so you might feel like it is slow, but chat with her a bit and she will chat back. She makes the dining in experience well worth it. Parking is hard to find in front, but there is a lot in the back and a back entry. I make it a point to take out as much as I can. If anyone deserves your business, it...
