I’m not one to write negative reviews, usually only positive ones, however, my experience this morning (April 8th, 2025 at 7:38am at the 12th St. and I-29 location) was less than impressive. First of all, I do want to recognize how pleasant and friendly the drive thru ladies were when I got my coffee! Thank you for your cheerful attitudes this morning! I also love the cute/empowering messages written on the cups! I appreciated that customer service! My only complaint comes after I received my coffee from the drive thru and was transferring it to my cupholder. The lid was not on, securely, so it popped off and my hot Venti Caramel Macchiato spilled all over my pants, jacket, and car. I pulled around to park and walked into the store to ask for a towel to wipe up the mess on me and inside my car. I approached the counter and asked for said towel and explained what had happened with the improperly secured lid. The gentleman behind the register seemed put off that I asked for a towel, based on his body language and lack of words, but gave me a towel. One of the ladies at the drive thru saw me and did mouth “I’m sorry” to me, but I did not receive any other offers of help or inquiries of if I was ok, if I got burned, or if they could replenish my spilled coffee. I’m a ‘frequent flyer’ at Starbucks and love the service and food/beverages I typically receive. This situation shocked and frustrated me, as a previous employee in the restaurant industry and as a customer on my way to work. I was late to work because I had to drive home, change clothes, and clean up the spilled coffee from my seats and interior of my car, prior to heading to work.
Attached are the images I did capture of what happened.
My hope, with this review, is that all Starbucks employees/baristas go through a customer service training/refresher training of some sort for when these kind of unfortunate situations occur and how to appropriately help in that situation. Again, I hate writing negative reviews, but I felt like the customer service I received following the spill was extremely poor and could definitely...
Read moreA Welcoming Oasis at the Lyon Ave. Starbucks
After some truly unpleasant experiences at other businesses in the Lyon Ave area, it was an absolute relief to visit the Starbucks and receive a respectful, friendly experience from start to finish.
From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted warmly by the baristas. There was no hostility, no harassment tactics, just a simple, pleasant customer service interaction as it should be. What a refreshing change of pace!
I decided to try one of their seasonal drinks - the lavender oat milk latte. The barista took my order politely and even double checked when I requested a milk substitution to coconut milk instead of the standard oat milk. No problem at all.
While I'm not 100% certain I received the lavender latte I ordered based on the flavor, the drink I got was still delicious. The coconut milk gave it a wonderfully rich and creamy taste with just a hint of floral essence. Even if it wasn't quite what I asked for, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
More importantly, I was able to relax in the cafe after receiving my drink without any unnerving distractions or obnoxious behavior from the employees. I sat peacefully enjoying my beverage without ever feeling rushed, mocked, or uncomfortable in any way. What a simple luxury these days!
The Lyon Ave. Starbucks may seem unassuming, but it was truly an oasis after the demeaning treatment I'd received elsewhere. The staff's friendly demeanor and respect for customers' time and experience made it a literal breath of fresh air.
In a time where some businesses are developing toxic, unethical practices to harass patrons out the door, it's so appreciated to have a place like this Starbucks. reassuring reminder that awesome customer service still exists. I'll absolutely be returning to enjoy their beverages in a relaxed, welcoming...
Read moreI really appreciated the kind customer service from the assistant manager, Griffin. My drink was made incorrectly in the drive-thru and I went back a little while later as I didn't notice it at first and had to bring my kids to practice. When I went back to see if they could fix it, he didn't question me at all, he was very polite, apologized, and made me a brand new drink. I was worried they were going to be rude and make me feel like I was being too picky, but instead he was professional. Thank You so Much for making my day! This kind of customer...
