As a fulltime motorhome dweller and solo snowbird traveler, Tower Campground became my home base as a new resident to Sioux Falls South Dakota in January 2018, and its office staff became my adopted family.
During the last seven years I have noticed office staff and ground crew has changed. But welcoming spirits, smiles, and desires to provide safe havens for short and long-term travelers (Solo or families) by office staff and ground crew remains the same. As a result, this campground has always been home which is often confirmed every time I return home and need an emergency place to stay with full hookup.
Location is everything: I found Tower Campground to be centrally located with easy access to highways, area hospitals, sightseeing, shopping malls, beautifully maintained public parks, local fairground, ballparks, stadiums, concert venues, performing arts theater and sculpture walk. Therefore, as a returnee to this campground and based on its location, I always expect to hear traffic noise produced by ambulance, engines, exhaust, firetrucks, horns, motorcycles, and vehicle tires from nearby highways and 12th street where Tower Campground is located.
As a result, I never complain about traffic noises because it’s not the owner, manager, or property fault; it's caused by happenings near and/or around the campgrounds location. I take one Benadryl and get good sleep every night.
Amenities: Accessible dumpsters, bathrooms and showers, choice of back-in and pull-through campsites, fire pit/ring at a few camp spaces, full hookup, laundry room, large shade trees in designated areas, small dog park, paved and gravel camp spaces. Reasonable day, weekly and monthly prices. As a result, I will return to Tower Campground as needed in the future.
I am aware internet service is available, but I have never used it because I have mobile Wi-Fi service in my motorhome which operates office equipment, conference and cell phones wherever I homestead. When I am at campgrounds, I use electricity and never had an internet problem. Otherwise, when living off grid office equipment and electronics are operated via onboard generator.
Safe travels...
Read moreStayed here because it was the ONLY campground open in the city in March & I HAD to be in this city. Roads are shot out, drive slow or you could pop a tire. Office said “closed” the two times, one at 1:47 pm on a weekday, 2:36 also a weekday, however, when I called someone picked up the phone both times. Later Bathrooms are NOT open 10pm-6am. Sign on the door says due to vandalism, which is not comforting. So if you’re a late shower person or early riser, forget about it. Also, the bathroom light in the men’s bathroom shuts off while you’re showering so I hope you like showering in the dark. Bathrooms not cleaned all 4 days I was there. I showered with the same clumps of hair, and the same spider every day. Sinks disgusting. $60 a night, they must be paying their employees TONS, even though I never saw one, because they’re not putting a dime back into this property that I could see. RIGHT next to a busy highway with no noise fences. SUPER LOUD road noise 24/7. Not to mention that when I was there, most of the campers were not campers, but workers and started their trucks at 3:30 AM and let them run for 30 minutes. It’s like staying in a truckstop. Literally! Permanent residents SPEED through this property, swerving manically to avoid the potholes. Walk your pet at your own risk. I understand WHY they don’t give refunds. You are charged for your entire stay right up front with no cancellations or refunds, and I get it now. Called the office to confirm. Not under ANY circumstance do they refund $. We hooked up our camper & ran from here as soon as we could & just forfeited the...
Read moreMy husband and I RV full time except a couple of months in the fall when we are at our barndominium. We were at Huset's Speedway camping this week, but due to the rain and possible creek flooding, we had to move. Found this campground on Google. It really bugs me when reviews are not accurate as I use them when I do not know about a place. This campground is not a vacation resort for you to stay two weeks like a spa. It is a campground close to the Interstate. The noise is typically for being close to the Interstate and not loud/loud and is very low noise at night. Two planes have been leaving near us two times in the past 18 hours and it was not at night. Campground clean, grass well kept and owners available on the phone after hours. This campground is located in SD and not FL so the bathrooms are not used constantly in the winter months. It takes one person to take a shower and leave a mess - not the fault of the campground. It would have been if someone complained and did nothing. In traveling there are so many construction workers, traveling nursing, etc. and they are using every campground more and more. Thankful for their work for us but any campground can have workers. Again, I am just glad they are working in their field because we need them. Good place to stay for one night or a few nights if seeing sights here. Convenient to a lot of attractions/businesses (not my thing but in case it is yours). And yes, have to admit very nice to have asphalt under us now with all this rain this week...
