I'm a little biased in the fact I love renaissance festivals and to say this local festival is so worth the trip to Sioux Falls, SD. The volunteers were amazing, stayed in character very well. Wish I could stay in character like that myself and everyone is incredibly helpful and they engage with children really well. There was this viking reenactor who tried and successfully engaged with my 3 year old son who was scared of everyone, but he won his confidence. The mead that was offered had incredible flavor. The food was good and there were plenty of vendors. Of course I bought period Era attire, a sword, dagger, and a couple wooden swords and shields for the kids. The activities they had for children are engaging and appropriate for all ages and even adults can interact with these activities if you have young children. Unlimited root beer, music at almost every corner, hourly shows, and plenty of renaissance spirit where not just volunteers were in character. Jousting and combat are energetic, engaging, and even the children got involved with the cheering and entertainment. If you're interested in going to this festival next year, the date will be June 3rd and 4th in 2023. This is going to be a yearly thing for my family,...
Read moreThe Siouxland Reanaissance Fetsival is a great family attraction that me, my wife, (and now my son) look forward to year after year. There are free acts to enjoy once you've paid your admission, including musicians, magicians, and comedy acts. There are tons of children's activities and games as well. One of our favorites is the children's bead hunt, which sends kids scouring the faire for performers and merchants with dragon pennants who will award your child with a bead. At the end of the day, your child can sign a log with how many beads he or she found and will receive a prize. My toddler is a bit young to appreciate it, but my wife and I enjoy playing...
Read moreThis renaissance festival is one of the worst I have ever been too. Not only as a vendor but also as a spectator. First things first it is overpriced for what is there. As a spectator I was able to walk the entire thing in 15min, there wasn't a lot there to look at or do. As a vendor, who does many renaissance festivals in the area over the last 7 years, I have never been treated with such disrespect in all my years. Not only where the other vendors rude but the managment and security were also EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful. If you are looking to have a good time at a renaissance festival I urge you to look for another...
