My first visit here was with a friend who had also never been here, but said friend loves Gyros.
I found the parking easily for this location situated in its strip mall. From what I could determine, you enter and pick a place to sit down. That's fine with me, honestly.
The ambiance as far as the dining room goes is: Picture a Chinese food restaurant where you go up to the counter and order and wait for your food to take out to your car. Oh, and there happen to be some tables and chairs. That's kind of the vibe. However, this place does also have servers, so you can come in, pick out a table, sit and someone will pretty promptly come to take your order.
I'm pretty sure they're so prompt because there weren't many other tables occupied. This is not a signal that this place is not frequented though, please read on!
As we dined, there was a constant stream of patrons coming in, picking up orders, and walking out. Like, a CONSTANT stream. There wasn't a line or a crowd or anything, but picture every 30 seconds to 1 minute, someone comes in, gets their order, leaves.
I give 4 stars for the atmosphere because come on, this is not a tablecloth kind of place. 4 stars is still great!
Our server (as mentioned) was prompt. All of the drink options are canned/ bottled drinks, and this is a Pepsi establishment (for those who need to know), but I got water (16.9 oz bottles, very reasonably priced, $1.50 in March 2025). We got the stuffed grape leaves & tabouli salad for appetizers. They were great, I recommend using the tzatziki sauce with the grape leaves!). My friend ordered a Gyro, I ordered the Yummy Platter (beef). I added the side of Hummus, which came with the appetizers unexpectedly.
All of the food was amazingly flavorful. There wasn't a single bite I didn't enjoy. The rice in the grape leaves was a little warm (which I loved, I was expecting it to the cold), the tabouli was on point, the Hummus was cleaned out. One strange (but not bad thing) is that the Gyro apparently included pickles (?). One minor critique of the Yummy Platter is that it was an AWFUL lot of lettuce, undressed, with some slivers of tomatoes and tiny pieces of cucumber, and it took half the plate.
That said, the prices at this place were stupidly reasonable. We got meals for 3 people (my friend got an extra take-away meal) for about $47. $60 including the tip (generous, yes, but still, $20 a head in this day and age?)
We'll definitely be...
Read moreWe've lived here 5 years. I've tried different places. Wasn't a fan. My neighbors recommended this spot. Actually very good. Chicken gyro, chicken breast love it! not thigh meat, which I hate. Only thing for 4 stars is the lettuce is chunks not shreaded, tomatoes were thin and soggy. No white onion. Which is every gyro I've had. Crisp, tomatoes, lettuce with thin sliced onion. This had pickles, what? Since when. But it wasn't bad, still good. The sauce isn't a tsaki I'm used to. No cucumber, dill, Greek yogurt. It's a white garlicky sauce. Which is actually good, I used extra I got to dip my fries I ordered in. My husband got a gyro, normal type gyro meat. But same issue with lettuce, tomatoes. He was cool with pickles. Different, but good. I got the Israeli salad and added Feta. Very good. I like a small chopped salads. I only like cow milk feta. I'm not a fan of anything lamb, goat milk , meat etc so I was super happy they have it. My 4 stars are for the lettuce, tomatoes and pickles on gyro only. Please get tsaki sauce. Offer garlic one, so it's no surprise. But will definitely order here again, but i will tell them no pickles, add white onion. So good job, gyro grill on all else. Our search is over for a gyro spot. Your it, next time we want gyros. Your prices are very...
Read moreI had a fantastic experience at Gyro Grill in Wayne, NJ, and I couldn't be more delighted to share my review. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and kindness by the staff and owner. What stood out to me was their generosity – not only did they serve delicious food, but they also gave me a discount and, unlike other places, didn't charge extra for the sauces I requested.
The owner, in particular, was an absolute delight. They were friendly, sweet, and incredibly patient as I made my choices. It's not every day that you encounter such genuine hospitality.
The food itself was a true delight. Every bite was packed with flavor, and I could tell that the ingredients were fresh and of high quality. The restaurant itself was spotless, and the delightful aroma that filled the air made the dining experience even better.
What surprised me the most was how busy the restaurant was, even at 4 pm on a weekday. It's a testament to the quality of their food and service. I'm genuinely grateful for the wonderful experience, and I'll definitely be returning for more delicious meals. Thank you, Gyro Grill, for your exceptional service!
