Nick's Coney Island — Restaurant in Wayne

I've noticed that there are an abundance of Coney restaurants/diners in Michigan that serve the same type of food which is nice because you'll always know what's available at each individual location but I find that most Coney's have the same bland, mediocre food for a decent price.

This Coney Island is different. The staff is polite and kind, they make sure you have what you need and they seem to be hard workers.

I got the Steak and Eggs w/ hashbrowns. For a 'diner' breakfast steak it was above average and cooked how I wanted it. The eggs were perfect and the hashbrowns weren't overly dry or too crunchy.

My only minor criticism is the small size of the restaurant itself. Every time I've visited Nick's, they rarely seem to lack an abundance of customers which would be more fruitful for the business were it larger. With that said, it's still a great place especially...

I ordered the southern omelette with fries. Everything tastes great and actually tasted fresh! This is one of the only joints I've been to where it tasted like the toast was fresh out of the toaster. The omelette and fries paired well and both were very good.

My wife ordered the bacon and eggs breakfast with fries instead of hash browns. She said everything tastes fresh and was very good.

My son ordered the kids pancake and sausage. It was pretty cool that they put whipped cream in the shape of eyes and a mouth. Most places I've been don't do something like that. He devoured the order, which is his normal routine because he loves both pancakes and sausage.

Cooks are the only ones in this place that are skilled at work. The lady in the pic is an absolute wreck. She is rude, like super rude. She talks poorly about customers right in front of them. Whispering “they should wear body cams” cuz my waitress obviously didn’t hear me say over hard for the eggs, and I sent the over easy eggs back. My bacon came out crispy so did my hash browns just like I ordered but the eggs were wrong and you think I’m going to believe the kitchen didn’t nail the eggs the first time around?
