Short opinion before rant: Highly recommonded.
Due to the closing of one of my favorite restraunts when I was a child, I have been fixated upon finding another place that carries a similar energy to the previous. This may very well be the place I have been looking for. Today, I came to MeYou for lunch with my father. I have eaten here before, and someone (who carries the air of a restaurant owner) recognized me as the guy who ordered the "Thai hot" option for their crispy chicken. And, while lacking detailed memories of the dish, I can recall a burning sensation. And so, being the persistent person I am, I ordered the prik pao cashew with the Thai hot sauce. And let me tell you: my stomach is a volcano ready to explode. This is about thirty minutes after eating, and I believe my stomach acid is bubbling. Prik pao cashew description: I ordered this with pork, as it is my preferred meat. A basic description is: Sliced carrots, pork, sauce, onions, and sweet peppers make up the dish. Naturally, the sauce was a self-inflicted inferno played upon my tongue, and does not need further description. The pork was well cooked, and thoroughly absorbed the flavors within the sauce. But, besides the sauce, it felt like the onions should have just as much credit for this dish as the pork. They were sweet, and their flavor was distinct from the sauce of the dish, which lessened any former monotony that could have been created. Then, there was the rice. While not the best rice I have ever had, it was one of the best I have seen in the St. Louis area. It was sticky and held shape, which is always a sign of a good chef. The only thing to note is that it wasn't as flavorful as some of the other rice I had, but I'm picky when it comes to rice.
All in all, really good. Side note: If you do not like spicy foods, they have some milder options for the spice. But, if you are brave, make sure to try the Thai hot option! Have...
Read moreMy partner and I love Thai, and we realized we'd never tried Meyou so it went on our list. We decided to get takeout on a chilly Sunday night for our first meal from there.
The guy on the phone was polite and quoted a 20 minute wait time. When we arrived to pick it up, it was packaged and ready, and VERY hot to the touch. A+!
When we got home, both of us were pleased that our meals looked delicious. My partner got basil stir-fry, his go-to dish. I got drunken noodles with chicken. He wasn't sure at first if he was happy about the ground beef instead of strips of meat, but he said it was delicious.
My drunken noodles were SO good. There was a ton of chicken, all incredibly flavorful. The veggies, including green peppers (which I don't normally love), were all infused with the super tasty sauce. I had to force myself to stop eating once I was full because it was so good but I didn't have my room left. My partner had a hard time finishing his, too, solely because there was so much. Both of us really wanted to keep eating.
The inside of the restaurant was super tiny, but we plan on going back to dine on their lovely patio once the weather is nice again. This place is going to be a staple in our takeout rotation until then!...
Read moreIncredible flavor in every item we tried. I think I ordered the Kao Soi, with a spice level of 2. The coconut milk, lime juice, and curry was cooked at a perfect balance with one another. The spice was at the very top of my comfort level- I have found that a level 3 at other Thai restaurants are the top of my comfort level. My date ordered pad thai with a spice level of 4 and he was sweating from how spicy it was through the end of dinner. He was unable to finish due to how intense the spice was, but enjoyed the leftovers later. That being said, I think that the restaurant leans heavy on the spice scale, so be mindful when ordering. We also ordered fried rice to go in the soup, but it wasn't needed.
We enjoyed patio seating during a sprinkle on a Friday evening and watched many come and go with their to-go orders. Service was quick and friendly, providing great suggestions all throughout. Our server even brought my date a complimentary Thai tea when she saw how he reacted to the spice. Very pleased...
