We had a choice of two Waffle Houses at this exit, and I think we picked the wrong one. None of the three people on shift seemed to know what they were doing. My husband had to help the waitress who took our order because she didn’t know what questions to ask (he is a Waffle House frequent flyer). He ordered decaf, but we could all see that the decaf was empty. The girl went to start our order. She put the toast in first and then proceeded to call someone on speaker phone to discuss how to do the eggs. She and another employee worked on the grill for a while, but instead of doing multiple items at once, they seemed to be doing them one or two at a time and then setting them on the plates to get cold. A third employee made himself a meal and sat down to eat while the other two puzzles over the grill. The other employee finally went to get the drinks, and finally realized he had to brew decaf. We got our drinks, one at a time. Then eventually he brought straws. Meanwhile, two plates of food came out, but no waffles. Then another plate. No silverware. My husband reached over the counter and got some before the waitress realized and brought it. Finally the wakes came and the last plate. My son’s over easy eggs were cooked solid through the yolks. The toast was cold, so the butter didn’t melt, and one of the pieces of toast was the end of the loaf. There was a mysterious red substance on the back of another one of the pieces of toast. Half the food was hot and half was cold. There was a random jalapeño pepper slice stuck to the bottom of one of the butter cups. I think we drew the short straw today because the staff there just didn’t seem too bright. Don’t get me wrong, they were nice, but they were extremely slow and not very competent. We always try to eat at least one meal at a Waffle House when we go on vacation, and we have never had an experience...
Read moreWell as everybody knows Waffle House is known for their 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. stop-offs after a night of drinking when you don't mind runny eggs and semi cold grits. What you don't like is when you get that at 8 in the morning and especially when you asked for scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese plain grits with a side of butter and two plain waffles and the only thing right on the order where the waffles. Completely under cook eggs the cheese was not even attempting to melt in them the great stem cells which are normally really good at Waffle Houses were way way undercooked and not even hot enough to melt the slab of butter I stuck on top and covered with a scoop full of grits after two or three minutes the butter was still intact and when I brought this up to the attending she acted like I was the worst person in the world for complaining about having cold eggs and cold grits after a 25 to 30 minute wait for the food and my friend and I were the only 2 of 6 total customers in the building! Needless to say after they fixed my meal I did eat it because I was very hungry and her 5% tip because she was probably one of the rudest restaurant employees I've ever come across did not go over well with her as she walked away with a piss poor attitude the same attitude that got her such a small tip in the first place. If you seen this Waffle House I would suggest just keep on going until you find another one this one's not worth rolling the dice on getting some salmonella or E coli from under cook eggs and grits just my personal opinion though some people like...
Read moreI have been to many waffle house locations to dine. I have have some good experiences and some that were not so good. I have had experiences where I thought "this is wonderful". But this evening was it. At the Weldon North Carolina location, 3 yound men held down the Waffle House without missing a beat. When I say TEAMWORK.....They all worked together, there was no arguing or bickering, no horseplay, they were polite, courteous, they kept it neat and clean, and the food was damn good! If you all don't do anything else, contact the manager and let them know these three guys delivered the best service I have EVER had in a Waffle House. Funny thing is, there is a Waffle House about two minutes from here that my family and I went to, but saw the server's nasty attitude fron the window so we decided to come to this location, hoping to get at least slightly better service. Who said men couldn't lead in a kitchen???
