I would definitely recommend visiting the Tatte Bakery, I wish I could rate it 5 stars but 4 seems right, here is why:
First, what’s working well: the atmosphere is airy and the kind of place I love having a coffee or breakfast in. Also, there is a large selection of baked goods along with gluten free options. The staff does a good job of getting people what the need given this place is busy!! Also, the food is really good, I was happy with everything we tried so overall this is what I think you would enjoy.
What could be improved: This place is packed! Clearly it’s an extremely popular place so that was to be expected, but it’s a bit of a free for all and that’s really hard if someone has a mobility issue, or if a family has small children. Finding a table takes a bit of effort and it would be nice if there was a better system to seat people vs having complete open seating. Also, there is not a lot of clarity on where to get supplies. I asked where to get water, utensils, and napkins and was told where to go. Unfortunately when I arrived there were no utensils at both stations. Another issue is it was not clear about how to leave tables. The table we eventually grabbed staff cleaned it up. We saw other instances like this when we were sitting. So given this was our first time we thought staff cleaned the tables. Thinking this I left a 20 dollar tip and our family rushed out because our daughter had a blowout. As we were walking out the door I noticed bus trays under the station with utensils but was still unclear if we use them or not. Some more instructions here would be really helpful. I think that would eliminate confusion.
Overall 4/5 stars due to the confusion. I get it’s busy though and I would definitely go back. I feel the 4 stars are pretty accurate that Google reflects. Feel free to check out my photos to get a sense...
Read moreI have been going to this Tatte location for several years with my family. The food is always very good. We probably will not be returning to this Tatte location because the staff never cleans the tables in between customers. Many customers get up and leave their dishes on the tables when they are finished and we end up having to clean a table, as customers, before sitting down. I have never once seen a staff member at this location even attempt to clean a dirty table for customers to sit down. For my family, a party of 3, to eat breakfast or lunch at Tatte, it costs us approximately $70. These are not fast food prices but we are expected to clean a table after previous customers before even sitting down. It is so unsanitary. We should not have to handle the dirty dishes, silverware, cups, and trash of other customers. The tables are not wiped down in between customers either. It is really disgusting. I reached out to the manager after feeling incredibly frustrated each time we eat there. She told me that they have staff members who are supposed to clean the tables. The problem is that they don’t. I would not be shocked if this was a health code violation. We have given this Tatte location many chances to change our opinion but we will no longer pay so much to eat at a place that will not even clean the tables for their customers. The food is good but they obviously don’t value...
Read moreWhen they opened in Wellesley earlier this year, I was so delighted to have healthy drinks that were not too sweet. My favorites were the Matcha variations and the beet variations. I’m noticing that yesterday they did not have my favorite beverages posted so I tried beet latte on ice. I wish they had offered me alternative non-dairy ingredients, which they actually have in-house including oatmilk and almond milk. I prefer non-dairy and need to remember to ask for that next time. Much to my dismay, the beet latte was so sweet it just tasted like pink sugar liquid. I really like all the interesting items on the menu and the variations that are not found in other restaurants I do, however miss the galette variations offered during summer months. I have found recipes online for winter versions that include butternut squash with apples, and also recipes with apples, cranberries and walnuts. I wish they would feature the galettes year-round. The setting is fabulous and offer something for everyone - small tables for private groups, a large banquet table for a larger group and bar seating for folks who want to work on their electronic gadgets with power outlets just underneath. The atmosphere is outstanding. Please review your beverage selections and return to some very healthy options with maybe monk fruit instead of sugar, and using very very, very little...
