My wife invited me to eat and I got to pick where. I chose casa de Mariscos in Weslaco Texas. It was easy to locate. As we pulled up I noticed all the parked vehicles. That's usually a good sign the food is good. Once inside I noticed there were plenty of tables filled with guests. Once seated the great service began. Our drink order was taken by a waiter assistant, I also ordered a principio de caldo (starter cup of soup) with him. Soup, limes, chips, and a good tomato salsa arrive before the tea. Big chunks of fish can be seen piled in the cup, looks inviting. They even have my favorite crackers on the plate. Soup Lwas pretty good and even better with a little green habanero sauce that was on the table. I ordered the fried flounder with shrimp, served with rice, fries, and salad. My wife ordered steak and shrimp, this plate comes with rice, refried beans, and salad. As we waited for our meals, I could not help but notice all the families that kept coming in, as well as, couples. That actually never stopped the whole time we were there, they just kept coming in. I also noticed going by our table, some massive, ready to dive into, and totally devoured!! Botanas platters!! With so much gooey, melted cheese, just coming over the sides of the tray, and piled high with sliced fajitas. Our food arrived in a timely manner, especially considering how busy they were. My plate had a side of Flounder, by this I mean a Whole Side of the fish itself. It was breaded and fried on point!! The Shrimp, OH!! let me tell you good folks about them. Jumbo!! Indeed I was impressed!! I ordered them grilled, cooked perfectly, and could have used more seasoning or a garlic butter brush, would have taken them over the top. My wife shared a Jumbo Fried Shrimp with me, again fried right. Tarter sauce, Ranch dressing, and ketchup are served in a squirt bottle, left on the table, nice touch ya all. My wife did not like her steak, I tried it, a bit chewy. I asked our server if we could switch her steak for fajitas. No problem , I used a side plate to place my wife's steak on. I was surprised to see how big , or actually how wide it was. I am almost certain it's the same cut of meat they use for Milanesa. Anyways, Fajitas arrived promptly and were pretty good. I was stuffed to say the least, and no room for dessert. Lastly, I saw these large glass cup/bowls filled with lots of shrimp in cocktail sauce, piled high with sliced Avocados. Looks like I might have to make another trip to...
Read moreWe dined in today for the first time and we loved it! Our server, Angelica, was very nice and attentive. She provided some good suggestions when we were ordering. You get chips and salsa when you arrive and after placing our order for friend fish and shrimp, she brought us some fish soup-- SO GOOD. The fish and shrimp come with fries, rice, and a salad. Everything was DELICIOUS! My son had a kid's taco- comes with rice and beans, but she let us sub for fries. The manager is walking back and forth checking on the tables and on the kitchen. There were men we're playing music, which was pleasant. 🙂 Kuddos to those running this establishment. 👏🏼 Everything was excellent! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
March 2022 I ordered a botana to go. If you've never been here, the orders to go are picked up on the east side of the building. I didn't know this and wasn't told. I kept seeing "Dine-In Entrance Only" signs on the doors but no directions as to where I was supposed to go. When I walked in, a gentleman pointed me to the right door.
The botana for 4 had so much food! I'm sure it could easily feed 5-6 people. The Fajita was tender but lacked some seasoning. It was still good, though. It came with some rice, beans, guacamole, diced onion & tomatoes, jalapeños, salsa, and tortillas, which was perfect because I was wondering if I should have ordered sides. All in...
Read moreI'm completely in disbelief in the way casa de Marisco treats its loyal and frequent costumers. My girlfriend not only got over charged for sides, when her plate clearly came with sides, but I also had the saltiest camaron soup. My girlfriend also called before hand asking if her plate came with sides and was told no over they phone when it clearly stated on a 5 foot menu in the restaurant that it did. When i called Lorenzo the manager on duty, not only was he not apologetic for the situation for i don't live close by, but was requesting that i bring my soup back for evidence that i didn't eat it. In covid times not even McDonald's would ask for food back. They simply would just replace it without being asked. The fact that Lorenzo can't trust a loyal frequent customer, is wrong and demeaning. I myself am a manager in the food industry as well and never would i treat a customer as so. I fortunately will not be returning back to casa de marisco, and will be spreading the word about this...
