Don Birria Tacos y Mas, LLC — Restaurant in Weslaco

First and Last time at this establishment. Not worth the price.

As I walked in around 8:30pm the smell of cleaning agents hit my nose, guess they were trying to wrap up the night even though it was a Friday and they close at 10pm. Not necessarily a welcoming scent at dinner time but not a dealbreaker. We were seated and I asked for extra beans, but they charge extra so I declined. Keep in mind other taco places do have unlimited complimentary beans. At check out, I was upcharged for ordering fountain drinks. The server did not disclose there would be an extra charge, otherwise I would have also declined. At checkout the cashier pointed at a sticky note taped to the menu, as evidence for the upcharge. The waiter had just asked if fountain drinks were okay and I agreed without being informed of the charges. Food was okay, not blown away by the flavor and for a $12 birria combo, the tacos were small, with little meat and cheese. I still tipped the server and paid $60 plus for a family of 4. I will keep my business with other local and far superior places (both in flavor and price) such as Tingy, Compallito, Taqueria Jalisco,...

I’m not one to post bad reviews about a restaurant but never am I going back to Don Birrias in WESLACO again. Upon arrival we were greeted by the waiter and he asked what we wanted to drink so we ordered lemonades and gave us the menu. We then ordered and of course we ordered combos. Mind you never did I mention that the lemonades were going to be a substitution for the can drinks that come with the combos I knew I was going to pay extra, what I didn’t know was that I was going to pay extra for the can drink that came with the combo. I asked to speak to the Manager and she told me that the can drink was charged because I had already ordered the lemonades and I explained that I never told the waiter it was going to be a substitution. Therefore, she said that at their restaurant that’s how it is after you ordered you’ll be charged extra for the can drink. Never have I heard of this. 3/17/25 This is my first visit to this business. We wanted Mexican food, and boy howdy were we pleased. We had cheese enchiladas, beans, rice, fresh green, small salad. The entire meal was well organized and delicious. We were served by Silvana, a wonderful young lady, who was very kind, respectful, and made sure our meal was properly done, and i was made to our satisfaction! Silvana continually checked our table, which was very kind. We had ice tea and water with lemon as our beverage. The entire staff was courteous, kind, and respectful. If you haven't been to Don Birria Tacos and More, you should stop and visit this really nice business. It is kid friendly and features a nice, friendly atmosphere! Prices are fair, and your plate has plenty of food for those hungry adults and smaller portions for the kids. It's on Hwy 83, with ample parking. It also has a take out menu with lots of choices. Please try this well organizer, well staffed and plenty of Mexican food...
