Spent over $100. I got 2 Oxtail plates, 2 Kool-Aid, and 1 Jerk Egg Roll (3). There were only about 4 oxtails in the box (and one of the sides was incorrect) then I was told that they didn't have enough oxtails left to fulfill the entire order. So I ended up getting a Jerk-Chicken as a replacement (again, one of the sides was incorrect). While the oxtails had good flavoring, the ones I received were mostly fat and not enough for the price point. The jerk chicken was very dry even though it was swimming in a seasoned juice. The Jerk Egg Roll (3) were very good but they needed to come with a sauce or something because them by themselves they're a little dry, but really flavorful. The Kool-Aid was made well but it was warm. I would suggest putting it over ice. The Sweet Plantains were a disappointment. They were more salty than they were sweet and there were only about 5 pieces in the bag. This leads me to believe they used 1 plantain and cut it up and gave me that.
*I was also given a banana pudding to make up for the price difference between the plates. THIS WAS THE BEST THING I HAD! The oxtail flavor came second.
All in all I don't think I'll be eating from here again just due to my first experience and the quantity not being worth the...
Read moreI have been looking forward to trying this place since they opened! I finally got my chance tonight. And it is every bit as amazing as I thought it would be! I pulled up right out front and smelled the most amazing things before I even got out of my car. The restaurant is small, not a large group sit down kind of place. (Maybe someday!) I ordered the stewed chicken with rice and peas and the green beans. This darling man says to me "It's falling off the bone, I hope that's ok." I would have been mad if it wasn't! Just be careful of those bones, don't bite down on one. The chicken itself was superb. Obviously tender, full of flavor and covered in a deep rich gravy. The rice and peas had so much flavor I was actually surprised! I don't know what it's seasoned with but I assure you there is nothing bland about it. And those green beans! A little bacon, as there should be, and a touch of heat! The whole thing was just the right amount of spicy. We have to talk about the portions tho! This was easily a two meal serving. I might even get three out of it! So if the prices are putting you off, go in on one dish with a friend and you will both have plenty to eat! I can't wait to try more things!!! This place is a great addition...
Read moreI really enjoyed my experience at Caribbean Jaacs. The service is absolutely TOP TIER. The owners were there working and were very excited to explain the menu to us. The male owner (sorry, I didnt get anyone's name) is the head chef and gets creative with the menu. He has created an oxtail pot pie. I didnt get it this time but I will be back to try it. Someone else ordered it and it looked really good. I got the oxtail platter. It comes with 2 sides for $28. Very reasonably priced especially for the portions they give. The oxtail were large, flavorful and tender. The gravy was perfect for the rice and peas. The cabbage was seasoned very well. The mac and cheese was a little salty but still good. Luckily, they have house made Kool Aid drinks to put out the fire from the food.
They have not been open for long but are very beloved in the community. They already have a solid customer base, many of them walking in from the neighborhood. I am definitely coming back to try the rest...
