We arrived at 6:45pm for dinner. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy as only 6 or 7 tables were full. We were asked if we had a reservation and we replied that we didn’t. The host seem taken aback that we didn’t and seated us anyways, giving us menus for food but not drinks.

We chatted amongst ourselves while waiting for the server. A couple more tables were seated after us but the restaurant still wasn’t even close to full. We noticed that the other tables received water almost right away while we hadn’t talked to a server or received any form of refreshment or even given a drink menu. We waited over 20min to even talk to a server. It was 20min while we watched other tables be seated and given water while we went thirsty.

Our server didn’t apologize for the wait and didn’t even seem to notice we had been sitting for 20min as he asked if we were ready to order or needed a few minutes. He also asked if we had a drink menu to which we responded that we didn’t. He took our orders and left us, still without any water. About 5min later, he returned with some water, filled out glasses and left the empty vessel at the table without refilling it. Not pleased with that. We never received a drink menu and wouldn’t receive one all night so we didn’t order drinks.

After a bit of a wait later(I didn’t time at this point), we received our food. We still hadn’t received bread that we had been promised so I mentioned it to the server and he said the kitchen was backed up because the restaurant was full. This was an outright lie because the restaurant wasn’t even close to full. There was at least two more dining areas and the dining area we were in wasn’t even full. Anyways, the food itself was mediocre at best. I ordered southern chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and collard greens. The chicken skin was good but that was about it. The mashed potatoes were extremely creamy, and I’m not convinced there weren’t instant potatoes from a box, sure tasted like it. The collard greens were gritty like they weren’t cleaned properly. The other two people in my party agreed with me and we actually swapped the collard greens out with asparagus because they were so bad.

We did eventually get bread which was not good, it was dry and cold. We had to flag down our server to get our check which took a time that felt longer then needed. We then noticed that we were charged for the asparagus which was a replacement for the gritty collard greens. We noted this to our server and he took care of it.

TLDR:We were extremely disappointed by both the level of service and the poor quality of the food we ate. This wasn’t a busy night and there is no excuse for the poor level of service we received. It was almost comical how bad it was. I absolutely do not recommend...

Tough review to write. I really want to give more then 3 stars... but I just can’t... find think I’m being generous with 3 stars for this evening. I’ll walk you through our dining experience.

Upon arrival we went to check in, had reservations. Overall the staff just seemed to be confused and unable to multi task the small handful of people trying to check in. Certainly not a good first impression.

Then we got seated. I ordered a Sazerac and my wife ordered a Hurricane. Both drinks were above average. However, had to ask multiple times for glasses of water. The waitress just didn’t seem like she was into us all that much... she was polite though.

Ordered an appetizer... full pound of frog legs. This was to include a pound of frog legs, onion strings and collard greens. When the appetizer arrived it was only 1/2 pound of frog legs and missing the collard greens. Pointed this out to the server and they brought the rest of the food. And yes... the frog legs were amazing!

I ask for a sample of the grits prior to placing order... I’m real picky on my grits and they must be southern style. The grits were actually fairly decent for a restaurant in Wisconsin... a solid 8 out of 10 as far as grits go. But again... I am picky about my grits!

Placed dinner order. Prime rib was their special for the evening. I specifically asked the waitress to check and see if it could be served “very rare”... I stated that if it wasn’t available very rare, I would be happy to order something else on the menu and added that I really don’t want medium rare. She checked and assured me very rare was available. I stressed again when placing the order that I only want it if it is very rare. The prime rib was served medium rare at best (probably closer to medium). It actually tasted decent and was still tender so I ate it... but it certainly wasn’t very rare like I wanted. Waitress ask how dinner was. I told her the prime rib was good but it wasn’t rare. My wife didn’t like the ribs and the waitress ask if she wanted something else... she said no and that she would just take a box and let me eat them as left overs. The waitress offered her some mashed potatoes or Mac and cheese... I thought that was nice! So my wife said she would take some mashed potatoes. The bill comes and she actually charged us $5 for the potatoes. I thought REALLY? On a $100+ bill the waitress adds $5 for potatoes that she offered because my wife didn’t like her entree... oh well.

In Summary: our dinning experience was less than satisfying and service could have been better. I really believe this place has the potential to be 4 or 5 stars... but for tonight’s dining experience the best I can do is round up my 2.5 star rating to an...

We were in Milwaukee for a concert and were trying different fun restaurants. We did a food road trip to New Orleans one year and fell in love with Po boys. We saw Crawdaddy’s had a Po boy on their menu and decided to try. It was a great choice! The decor was fun and bright. The atmosphere was a little loud for my liking but was not distracting. I started out with the Voodoo Juice for a drink. It was Bayou Satsuma orange rum, Cruzan banana rum, Cruzan coconut rum, Cruzan pineapple rum, cranberry juice, orange juice and pineapple Juice. This sounds sweet but wasn’t. All the ingredients worked. My wife got the the Louisiana mule. This was Absolut lime vodka, Bayou Satsuma rum, Goslings ginger beer, lime juice. Great flavors all working together. We started out with frogs on a mound. 1/2 lb. of fried frog legs on top of shoestring onions rings, served with remoulade. These were meaty, cooked well and well seasoned. The fried shoestring onion rings were crispy and delicious. The remoulade sauce was amazing. I love my condiments and I would eat this on anything. My brother and sister in law got the fried alligator bites with hot honey sauce. Finding good gator is tough. These were perfectly cooked with a good texture. Not chewy at all and that sauce was a perfect combination of heat and sweet. We got a catfish Po boy and a shrimp Po boy. Both were deep fried to perfection. The bread was soft on the inside with a good crust that helped keep the sandwich together. I liked the shrimp better but wouldn’t say no if offered the catfish. My wife also wanted to try the creole shrimp and grits with andouille sausage. This is Jumbo Gulf shrimp, choice of bacon or andouille sausage, red gravy, heirloom tomatoes, and scallion. I’m not a big grits person but this was delicious and I would love at this again. My sister in law got the shellfish etouffee this is Gulf shrimp, lobster, sea scallops and crawfish tails, trinity, caramel roux and rice. This is way outside of what she normally eats but tried it. She wasn’t a big fan but my brother in law ate it and said it was delicious. Now let’s talk service, this place could teach other restaurants how to serve customers. We sat near where the food came out. When something came out whoever was standing there would take it to the table. The meals never sat for any length of time. Our server, Jess R, was a rockstar. She knew the menu really well and answered questions quickly. She was fun and interactive. This place is a must and we will...
