Bought a cheap sterling silver ring in Hawaii for my then girlfriend of a few months, seven years ago. Once I brought it home for her, it ended up needing to be resized. I lived up the road from Shallow at the time and we took it in to be resized. The ring had some very small cubic zirconia on it from hawaii.... They said they'd call us when it was ready. Not only was the ring the perfect fit when we got it back the NEXT DAY.... We got in our car to leave and my girlfriend was looking at it and noticed the "diamonds" were twice the size!! No extra charge just the cheap resize cost. It was at that moment I said to her, "If I ever buy you a "real" ring I'm going to Shallow first no matter what." Fast forward six years later and we are looking at rings, at Shallow, with Dean, and I find the almost perfect ring for my soon to be wife. I had my lady step out of the store and Dean and I hashed out the pricing and the customizations to really make the ring perfect for her. I proposed shortly after I received the ring on St Patricks Day, a new moon that year, under the stars and I don't think she looked at me the whole car ride home.. Straight Dazzled.. Now fast forward to the wedding band...due to life complications, we weren't able to order the final piece until two weeks before the wedding. Wait time was going to be three weeks, at best, and we needed to have the two soldered together. We left it up to Dean, who was willing to go so far as to deliver the ring directly to our ceremony if need be. In the end, the wedding band came in within a week because Dean is a magician. We had the complete set ready a couple days before the wedding. If that isn't going the extra mile in customer service I don't know what is! To sum this all up,...

Shallow was one of three places that I stopped at on my first day shopping in-person for an engagement ring. Renee helped me and spent an hour answering all of my questions, walking me through different options (including versions not on display in the store), and was overall very professional without making me feel pressured to commit to anything up front. In addition, they were able to do up to three customizations for free on the ring. I hadn't found anything that was 100% what I was looking for up to that point and thought I would have to go somewhere that did full-custom jewelry and pay more to get that. Instead, they were able to mix and match bands and heads of different rings and then also change the band style to a channel-set design from a prong-set design, making exactly what I wanted. A very realistic and detailed 3D CAD model was procured within a few days so I could see the design and give the go-ahead. They continued to answer all my questions and were very patient with me through my decision process. When it came to the center diamond, I more or less knew what I wanted and they found a great fit for me, which they also took the time to show me in detail under the microscope and explain the different aspects of it, again answering many questions. The ring was produced and delivered quicker than quoted and my girlfriend absolutely loved it when she finally got to see...

My wife and I have been working with Shallow off and on for a number of years and have been generally happy with them. Some specifics:

They created a new sapphire ring using some stones from an old setting. Beautiful work. They created a necklace for our daughter using a diamond from my Mom's wedding ring. Beautiful work. General jewelry repairs. Done well, but I can't comment on the cost, which seemed reasonable at the time. Old pocket watch repair. Done well by their now retired watchmaker. However, I didn't appreciate being lectured by him about proper watch maintenance. He could have explained himself in a far more diplomatic manner. Recently took a couple of watches in for battery replacement. Done promptly. Unfortunately, I had the experience of working with an older guy whose customer skills need work. He was civil, but hardly courteous and wasn't friendly at all. I'm not that fussy, but I was definitely put off. My wife noticed his manner, too. I would have given them five stars if...
