First time coming here just an hour ago. Very small place, you have to order ahead in a line and watch people eat and hope you can get a table. Once you order you’re asked if you have a table, which no there weren’t any open as people were still eating. So we are told we can sit next door but can’t order alcohol here but can get similar bloodies next door and they’ll bring your food over there. So we’re thinking ok this place must be apart of or affiliated with the west allis cheese and sausage shop, come to find out they’re not related. Walk in to the place next door and instantly smells like wet dog and bathroom. Asked for the specialty bloody list next door and told they don’t do that anymore and it’s just the basic bloody. Received my bloody and had a dog hair on it. Ok…sure that can happen. Waited for our food for about twenty mins for them to bring it to us in a take out bag and to go boxes. Disappointing. We would of waited the ten min inside or outside for a better experience at the west allis cheese and sausage co. And to top off the experience my husband order was...
Read moreMy partner and I have been coming to Cheese & Sausage for years and we have loved it every time. We both have work in the service industry and try to be mindful of closing times when going to restaurants. However, we foolishly forgot to check Sunday, March 24th and did not realize closing hour was 2pm. There was a miscommunication when ordering (it was probably my fault because I'm a really soft spoken person) and we didn't get one of our entrees, and everyone made sure we got what we needed even after hours, and was so kind about it. Since we work in the industry, we know how frustrating or how frazzled last minute mess ups can make you feel so we really appreciated it. Please be sure to give everyone working that Sunday, kitchen and front of house, our thank you for how efficiently they resolved the problem and how kind they were to us even when they were trying to close up and go home. We hope Cheese & Sausage recognizes the great team...
Read morePros: Large menu selection, convenient location, large beverage selection Cons: Always packed, nowhere to sit, been here twice (thought I'd try it again), and both me and my partner said that the food was bland, the "homemade chips" lacked and sort of distinguishable flavor, the sandwiches tasted like everything was slapped together and no unique flavor to set them apart. The bakery/dessert items in the glass case are outrageously overpriced. I think I got the Nutter Butter thing last time and the cookie edges were hard, while the middle was more soft--as if they have been sitting there for 1+ days. Thought the Banana Bread was -.50 cents, but the "2" digit was wiped away or faded in such a way that I was surprised they would be charging $2.50 for a square.
I'm sure the place has its fans and loyal customers. Just wasn't impressed the first time around, and especially having gone there now two times, I won't be coming back.
Good luck...
