My partner and stopped into Happy Tap for some pizza because I keep hearing that the pizza is top notch. I took two steps into the bar and was immediately yelled at (by the owner I think?) because "there is a big sign on the door to shut it behind you." Mind you, the door in question is a second door inside of the main door and it was propped open when I walked in. I didn't even realize there was even a door there. So, that was a pretty terrible way to be welcomed into the bar. Whatever.... We ordered drinks and the bartender was short and snippy with us, like we were intruding on the camaraderie of all of their regulars sitting at the bar. Overall the food was fine, I won't deny that. But the service was borderline offensive and the people that work there are not welcoming to people that aren't regulars. I should have turned right around and walked out. Be warned, if you walk in there, you'll probably be greeted in a rude-as-hell manner. Do better Happy Tap. Be...
Read moreI heard good things about their pizza. I had a few clients in town and thought this would be a good place to introduce them to Milwaukee style and taverns in general. Boy was I wrong!! Bartender was some old lady who dressed like it was still 1987. She was rude to me, rude to my clients and seemed to only be concerned with serving her friends. She would completely ignore us. What makes things worse is she couldnt mix a decent simple cocktail if her life depended on it. She cant take an order either, as our pizza was screwed up too. She brought them out, tossed them on our table and disappeared for 10 minutes. By the looks of her I'm guessing a smoke break? All in all, it took almost an hour to get a new, correct pizza. It wasnt even busy. She really did just seem pissed she had to do her job outside of helping her buddies. I had to apologize to my clients over and over again. Maybe this place had an off night but they burned us so bad I'll never give a...
Read moreAbsolutely appalling experience. A friend of mine has a severe dairy allergy — the kind where cross-contamination can send them to the hospital. They’ve been allowed to bring safe food here before, by the same bartender, but today that same person suddenly refused and couldn’t give a real explanation beyond “rules.”
Then, as if that wasn’t enough, the bartender told my friend they “shouldn’t be here” because they weren’t 21 — at 4 in the afternoon, surrounded by other customers, and not ordering alcohol. The kicker? There’s literally a high chair in the establishment. So apparently toddlers are fine, but a paying customer with a life-threatening allergy is a problem.
This place has zero consistency, zero empathy, and clearly no interest in accommodating people with legitimate medical needs. Between the hypocrisy, the attitude, and the outright rudeness, I won’t be back — and...
