After running errands in the area, I found myself in the parking lot of Pickle & Rye Deli. I went in expecting a deli counter only. It's a sit down restaurant with a full menu! I was quickly seated and found fresh fall colored roses on each table. What a lovely surprise. The friendly server suggested the #1 and #5 as the most popular sandwiches, served with onion rings. I did not have the onion rings. I ordered the #5 with chicken noodle soup and cole slaw. Both sides arrived very quickly, along with unsweetened iced tea. Tea was served with paper straw. The cole slaw was perfectly fresh and absolutely delicious. It's not too gooey, soupy. The chicken noodle soup was good and hot. When the huge sandwich arrived with a half pickle, I immediately asked for a take away box. The corned beef, cole slaw, Russian dressing and Swissed cheese on double baked Rye. OMG! It tasted like home cooking, prepared with love. The corned beef was like butter. The leanest, most tender, flavorful sandwich. This hit the spot. Can't wait to go back and try breakfast! Read moreA lot of delis in metro Detroit are clamoring for your business but for our family WE ALWAYS CHOOSE Pickles & Rye. Besides having an expansive and traditional menu that you can't go wrong with whatever you order, their customer service is the best. They really value their customers. There's been times (especially during COVID) where we had to wait a while for our carry-out and they've blessed us with complimentary cookies and one time we had to wait extra extra long and they were kind enough to even take a large % off the bill. They routinely show they care about their customers. Team member Ilyse has been amazing and overall they're friendly, courteous, and usually very quick in getting orders processed. Our favorite meals there: Anything with Corn Beef, their sandwiches are large and delicious and always customizable; mom loves the Tuna and my lady loves their veggie burgers. The new and old dill pickles they add to every order is on point! Thank you...
Read moreWe’ve been going to this place for years prior to the pandemic and have always enjoyed it- We recently visited after being away quite a long time-
The corned beef on the sandwich tasted very good- pickles were spot on, the bread in the breadbasket was dry- and didn’t seem the same as what they used to serve- our waitress was very nice, friendly -
The 2 stars for food are for the horrible potato salad- Their ps used to be tangy - flavorful- This was tasteless, potato salad - I used to take a extra order home- A waste of $ - we didn’t eat it-
The bread for our sandwiches couldn’t have been smaller and not equal in size- On one side it was a normal looking small slice and on the flip side it was half the size of the other, which was already small- it might as well as not had anything- My husband couldn’t eat his by holding it as it would have been a mess- Mine I could hold but again, small slices- Not sure if we got the end of the loaf slices but...
