This restaurant used to be a staple of ours. In fact, I still say it has one of the best Chicken Parm of any restaurant. In the last few years though, it has consistently been incrementally dropping in satisfaction and has hit the tipping point of causing an update.
It started years ago when they changed from offering a wonderful basket of Greek bread and dipping oil to two rolls and some butter. Then they started playing around with the plating. Sandwiches on bare metal trays, Chicken Parm and Pene on a wooden plate once, ect.
The other day, what should have been a simple Turkey Club came out as a Turkey Sandwich. Turkey Club... white bread, toasted, layered, cut in quarters. Every place in the world knows how to make it. It's beauty is in its simplicity. It doesn't need to be "fancy". My wife got a Steak and Cheese Sandwich. Another dish every corner Pizza Shop can do relatively well. This was way overly cheesed (didn't know that was possible) with cuts of steak instead of shaved. And small cuts like they went out of their way to dice the steak while it was frozen to then thaw and use.
It seems like every time we go in now and every new dish we try we always end up saying, "It would have been great, except....". It's like they got a new chef who wants to try a new fancy thing or fad but forgets the basics of what made the food great to begin with.
I hope them success because as the Manor (now their function side), it was always special when I ate there. Now their "Excepts..." are killing them like a thousand cuts. Get back to your roots, get the basics right, and please, put a French Dip Sandwich...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was good. Nothing to write home about. But Absolutely awful service. We are very kind and understanding of servers. We know they were short staffed...but the service we experienced for our grams 94th birthday was beyond rude.
I kindly asked a couple of waitresses who were standing in the corner talking if they could take our picture. They both picked up menus and a glass and pretended to do stuff, asked "when" and I said as soon as they were able as my gram had already moved around for the group shot and was waiting...I asked as soon as they were able and they told me they were super busy and might not get around to it....I also overheard these ladies talking about our group with another table while giving us the stink eye....(were a little loud-but happy! Italians!) to make it worse, we brought our own cake for her, and they made us wait 45 minutes after we had finished our meals for them to bring it out. We were there nearly 4 hours for one dinner.
As said, we are not the kind to harass servers...but this was just rude and unacceptable We felt very unwelcomed for choosing this place to celebrate our loved one...do better by your customers. We salvaged her day so that she didn't know any of the above. But it will definitely be a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur friends brought us here for dinner while we were down visiting from Maine. This place has a ton of parking, great set up, and nice location. It actually reminded me of Captain Newickās location back in the day when it was still around. It was kinda nice to see. It was loud and packed inside so we opted to sit out on the back deck which turned out great as no one was out there. We got seated no problem, our waitress was nice, funny and fast. I had the pesto chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw and my husband had the grilled chicken wrap. Mine came on freshly made focaccia bread which was to die for. The sandwich was huge and I had to take small bites, but the flavors were spot on. Not too much pesto, chicken was cooked perfectly. His wrap was just as good with juicy chicken and fresh veg. I wasnāt a fan of the coleslaw, it was mostly mayo based and Iām more of a vinegar based kinda gal. I like my coleslaw with a bite. Our friendās dishes looked really good and they had no complaints about their meals as well. I really enjoyed it overall and plan on returning next...
