Gerardo's Italian Bakery — Restaurant in West Boylston

I have always loved this location and their pastries, but I'm a twin mom with zero free time for writing Google reviews so this 5 star is really a 10 star, A++++ review ;) That's how good this place is!!

I called and long story short, Jessica saved my boys 3rd birthday party in a huge way. I have posted a picture below of what she was able to do for me 30 minutes before I was supposed to pick up my pizza order. As a stay-at-home mom with a teacher salary household, we never could have afforded such beautiful cakes. When I called her asking about the cakes 30 minutes before the party, in tears because I had just ruined their cakes with the terrible frosting I made, she said don't worry about it, I've got you! With only their name and a couple of small details, this is what she came up with. This kind of customer service isn't something that really exists anymore. Not only did Jessica make our sweet little boys day with the best cake they will probably ever have until their wedding cake, but more importantly she was so kind and so caring and just so sweet to me and a very stressful time, I can't stop thinking about just how amazing of a human she must be.

Their sheet pizza was outstanding, as you can see in the picture, the cakes were gorgeous, and if you go to this location, Jessica is just the best. THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY MOMMA...

We were lucky to work with Gerardo’s for our 4/27/24 wedding at Grand View in Mendon, MA. We primarily worked with Jessica who was excellent. We had our initial tasting (all vanilla cake with different fillings/frostings) and ended up wanting to try out some of the chocolate cake flavors. While their standard chocolate cake recipe in the wedding sampler contained tree nuts, she accommodated my husband’s allergy and made us nut-free version that was superb. We ended up customizing our flavor (chocolate cake, Oreo filling, Italian buttercream frosting) and had every guest saying it was the best wedding cake they’ve ever had! My maid of honor has Celiac disease, and Gerardo’s went above and beyond to bring her a gluten free strawberry roll so that she could also have dessert on our wedding day. We visited Gerardo’s a few times in the planning process and always went home with a delicious pastry.

As most couples say after their wedding, we were bummed that we were so busy on the wedding day that we didn’t get to eat/enjoy as much of the food as we would’ve liked. We called Jessica at Gerardo’s who made us a replica of our exact cake to pick up the following weekend so we could enjoy it at home. If I could it would be 0 stars but I have to put a star to post this review. I had put a deposit down for a wedding cake back in July 2021 for my wedding in May 2022. I called to set up the cake for the wedding a month before Gerardo said call back 3 weeks before the wedding. I called back 3 weeks before Gerardo said call back 2 weeks before. I call back 2 weeks before no answer and couldn't get a hold of Gerardo at all. So a week before the wedding I had to find a new bakery for my cake. Then 5 days before my wedding I get Gerardo calling me harassing me about if I am still using him I need to call him immediately the cake should have been set up 2 weeks before the wedding. Absolutely appalled with Gerardo I have used his bakery for years until now. He was so disrespectful and blamed me for not getting a hold of him 2 weeks before the wedding while he was on vacation and didn't mention that. If it was mentioned that 2 weeks before he would be on vacation I would have had everything taken care of ahead of time. Never will I recommend this or use this bakery again. He had a huge tantrum in the middle of the store over him not doing the cake that in his words "No one cancels a Gerardo's cake". Well I didn't cancel he canceled and hung me and my wedding out to dry. Awful never go here or use Gerardo again...
