JJ Fish & Chicken - Chicago — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

I have no reason to remove any stars. I'd add more if I could as most times they've exceed my expectations. I've seen a couple petty complaints about the place but they have no real foundation as this is a brand new restaurant with brand new management and brand new staff. Most days there's only two staff visible in the kitchen: the cashier and the cook. There's this duo of amazing multi-taskers, Miguel and Cece. By far they are my favorite as they're the ones I see the most when I visit and I visit often. Almost everyday! Cece has great capacity for running both calls and handling customers at the register with serious speed, accuracy, and efficiently recommending deals. Miguel can be seen cooking multiple orders at once to perfection without over or under-cooking foods. That apron stays clean and so does his work area. Both can usually be seen either cleaning or stocking up when not busy, meaning they take the job pretty seriously. In a more general sense, the staff at this location is friendly. What I love the most is that interactions with them are never forced, also meaning that no one there gives a phony smile. The employees know their deals and are willing to offer something more convenient if the customer seems indecisive. This contributes to their speed of service as their order-taking is simple, their credit card machine doesn't take an eternity like other stores, and they will repeat your order for added accuracy. Hell, they even have an ATM for your convenience. As for food, all of the images, although mostly enlarged for clear viewing, are actually exactly what they serve. No item on the menu is unavailable except at night when they start shutting down to clean, as all restaurants do. Their portions are huge like you're the skinny grandchild that grandma keeps tryna feed. Mhm, you get what you pay for here and that food is always to order, meaning always fresh off the grill or out the fryer. Cleanliness wise, it's often I walk to the shop and see one of the higher ups wiping windows both inside and outside. The store is almost all reinforced windows so you can see the place of service clearly and the kitchen is very open. Cashiers can be seen cleaning the doors, chairs, and place of service on their down time. Same goes for the cooks who clean the kitchen quite often throughout the day. You can often catch one of the cooks cleaning the grill to a shine. I can swear on my last dollar that the fryer stays just as clean. You can taste that the oil they use to fry isn't over-used or old. I also enjoy that uniforms there stay clean which reinforces that fact that they clean and often. One of my main focuses is that you don't see peddlers loitering there. So no mysterious urine stains outside and no one inside pestering you while you're trying to order. I highly recommend this place. It has it's own parking! And traffic isn't an issue there. When you do visit there make sure it's Miguel and Cece in the kitchen. They're the best.

Edit: You really outta check out what they did with the street and sidewalk upfront. i don't know if they made calls to the city or not but even the bench for the bus stop up front...

I visited the location on Monday of this week. I ordered a 7/11 (fried hard) which is nearly $24.00 tax included. I came from a distance by the way. I get it home, the fish was undercooked considerably, the wings still had feathers on them.. I called the manager and told him my concerns and basically he said he would replace the order . I returned Wednesday after work with my receipt and explained the situation to the cashier and how the manager would replace it. At which time I explained the concept of "fried hard" a few times .. The cook seemed to be scowling from the back area of the establishment, it was definitely noticeable. I stated to him " When cooking is indeed your passion cook with love." I watched from what I could actually see from the counter. My order was ready after nearly 40 minutes, I get it home, no seasoning, not even salt and pepper... Originally I stated light lemon pepper, this time none at all! Then the fries were old and possibly "re-fried" gross!!! I am done with this location the counter person was providing decent customer service, however she failed to add any seasoning at all this LAST time. I don't know if they realize the potential health threat of serving raw fish and poultry. I didn't mind the cost as I occasionally treat myself but I'm definitely NOT going to "pour money into a whole" without good results.. One of my pet peeves is chicken with feathers still intact AND FRIED. I will not continue to patronize this location and receive SUB PAR food, I can't do it. Worst case I'll purchase an Air Fryer and cook at home, it will be far cheaper than dropping $20 something a couple of times for a horrible experience and inedible food. They have...

Honestly horrible customer service.If there was a way to include zero stars i would . I ordered a 12pc nugget dinner ($7.99)to be told they ran out and will replace it for 8pc boneless wings that’s $5.99. Which don’t make sense so i asked why am i getting charged more and they continued saying it was going to be the same price with tax💀When $7.99 with tax is more.The front lady started giving attitude and stated “ Comprende” at the end of her sentence which i took that as i racist way since i’m hispanic so i started talking in Spanish to see if she “ comprende” and she called her coworker to come to speak to me in spanish .(I speak english perfectly fine” Lastly she threw the food in the counter.
