Let me be honest from the start: this is not a Jamaican restaurant. At best, it’s a watered-down Jamaican-American fusion spot that completely misses the mark.
As someone born and raised in Jamaica, I walked in with cautious optimism. I wanted to support, to taste something that reminded me of home. Instead, I left disappointed, frustrated—and honestly, embarrassed.
The jerk chicken was dry and painfully bland, completely lacking the bold flavor, heat, and smokiness that true jerk is known for. The rice and peas—or rather, “red beans and rice,” as they call it—was flavorless and uninspired. That alone should’ve been my cue to leave. But I chose to give them a chance. Big mistake.
The cabbage had a strange, sour taste as if it had been sitting out too long. The oxtail? Fatty, greasy, and without seasoning. And don’t get me started on the curry chicken—it tasted like something thrown together as an afterthought. No depth, no flavor, and no care.
What hurts the most is that I spent over $350 here, hoping to feed my family a hearty, flavorful Jamaican meal. What we got felt more like reheated leftovers—or worse, something unfit to be served.
This experience wasn’t just bad—it was insulting to Jamaican cuisine. Our food is bold, rich, and made with love. This? This was lifeless, soulless, and flat-out disrespectful to the culture.
If you’re searching for real Jamaican food, do yourself a favor—keep looking. This...
Read moreHONEST REVIEW !!! Maybe I ordered to late in the day it was after 7pm........ I ordered through Uber Eats which is ALWAYS an expensive gamble especially as of late. My opinion of the food I purchased and recieved upon my first impression is generous portions given and edible...... yet flavors were underwhelming and honestly almost not present. I ordered the oxtail dinner which came with rice and peas, yams and cabbage w/ carrot. The oxtails were old dry and fatty and very dark perhaps from reheating and microwaving the gravy was basically just oil another indication that the oxtails were older than desired. The rice was okay but very little peas (beans) were in them, the yams were good but the cabbage was very bland.
I also ordered the 1/2 Jerk Chicken dinner same sides . First off it was not all white as I had a thigh which last time I checked was considered dark meat. The chicken was okay but not fresh and you had to use the extremely spicy jerk sauce included to amp up the flavor because it tasted like oven baked jerk otherwise. The gravy was a dark gelatinous congealed glob that was salty with no particular flavor to it either.
The food was not horrible but I was not impressed. I am used to more robust flavors, hearty gravies and sauces , grilled chicken and spices and ingredients like onions, peppers and sprigs of thyme in my Carribean or Jamaican cuisine. I got none of that with...
Read moreMidway through my journey driving from Indiana to the west side then back to Indiana of course I was starving and Three-Ds is less than a mile away from my out west destination. I called in my order the 1/2 white dinner with Mac and cheese, cabbage, and red beans and rice. It took about 20 minutes and I only paid $13.75! When I told my cousin who was with me I was about to stop for food she asked why I didn’t tell her she was hungry too. I didn’t tell her because I had intended on sharing the dinner. When I brought the food to the car she said dam it’s heavy lol. The amount of food they give you compared to the prices is a steal. I loved everything but my cousin was disappointed about the Mac and cheese it wasn’t cheesy enough for her. I added some Cajun seasoning to the cabbage the chicken was perfect. The gravy they put on top of the rice was a hit! The man who took my order addressed me by name and was nice. Can’t wait to visit my favorite west side...
