SADLY CLOSED PERMANENTLY BUT ITS WEB SITE, GOOGLE AND DELIVERY SERVICES DONT LIST IT AS CLOSED. Another update. Other reviews have focused on the staff being largely Indian. Do you conplain about a Korean who makes you Japanese sushi? Or an anglo who makes your tacos at a bar? Totally unacceptable criticism and irrelevant.
It does seem it changed ownership since I met the owner when I made my original review a few years ago. Yes, eating out of disposable plastic bowls when you dine in is... truly suboptimal.
BUT I dont want to have to drive to V-Town (or Chinatown, per another reviewer) to get Pho. I adjure it does not taste inauthentic from Standard Pho. Maybe that reviewer misses his Mom's Pho. It will never match up. I have eaten often in V-Town and at Pho Grand in STL and the taste is the same.
However, there are issues with logistics, their web site (prices and items) and not even posting their opening hours on the web site. If you take it out, you can have the items not cooked, come home and put them in a stainless steel pan, and serve yoursefl from your own crockery. Problem with plastic solved. And it is way better than the pre-cooked you pick up with mushy noodles etc.
Update1 (original rating was 5 stars) - pls post your hours on your website. They no longer have delivery. No longer have egg rolls. Food is still excellent but i got text msgs at 10 pm today about my order having been ready that i picked up at 3 pm today (and they are open Fri and sat despite google said they were closed from fri at 12pm til sun at 12pm) and their hours are not posted on web site. This is a total shame because food is great but these things make it hard to deal with this restaurant. Also items and prices on web site don't match online order info. Get it together - your food is great, logistics less so.
ORIG 5 star review: delivery order of egg rolls and Pho Tai. Best Pho south of V-town and best eggrolls! Fast, well-packed, and awesome to eat. If you dislike sweet n sour sauce for eggrolls (who likes that?!?) ask for nuoc mam dressing in the comments and you...
Read moreWe searched this place from Google and then looked at their menu from their website. When we walked in, we felt like we were in the wrong place because the staff and the cooks are all Indian. But eventually when we saw what people are eating then we started ordering. Con’s: They don’t have a physical menu which is odd because we’re already in the Post Pandemic Age. 2. They let us order also from online by signing the QR code The items they have on there are different from what they have on their website. Prices did not match as well. Ordered Steak and Brisket Pho (website said $13 and their QR code website $14.95). Soup which came in a big plastic decorated bowl (I’d rather eat in a ceramic or glass because plastic containers for hot soups might be a recipe for the big C) and veggies came with the soup. Food - Soup tasted good. Broth was flavorful as well as the brisket. Serving was good enough to be shared by 2 people. Gyoza - forget about ordering this. Didn’t taste like the usual ones you get at a Japanese Resto. Steaks be Shrimp- ($13 in their website - $14.95 from their QR code website) - Very oily and it did not taste like something you can eat at a restaurant. Pros - free parking (if you’re lucky to find one in their small strip). Overall, we won’t come back at this place. On the way, there were police blocked roads which made us be concerned about our safety. We were hungry that’s why we finished our food. But we could’ve just have gone to Chinatown instead where prices could’ve been cheaper. There’s nothing wrong with the Pho soup but like what other reviews mentioned, it kind of does not...
Read moreCame here a couple of times.
A decent tasting pho with a good amount of food provided...you could say that it was in fact a standard pho! Price is a touch on the high side, especially compared to some places on Argyle. But given that Standard Pho is kinda the only business providing pho nearby in the neighbourhood it is in, maybe you're paying more because of lack of competition.
Most recently attempted to come after work at 5pm on a weekday. Their times displayed on their door and on Google both said they were open - when we got there they had closed and were definitely locked up for the day. That was frustrating, but I wonder if they're shifting their evening hours on weekdays? If so, I hope they update their signage. It is also wintertime at the time of writing this review, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was because they decided it was going to be a slow night and they wanted to let their staff go home early.
Ambiance is nothing fancy. Simple table and chairs/bench seating. No typical pho condiments were at our table. Tables were slightly unclean. Given the low traffic the times visited, the tables could have been kept cleaner. Ordering is a little of a hassle. They do the barcode at table ordering and it wasn't working. I also am not a fan of having to decide tip before I complete my dine-in meal service.
Overall, it's an average place for pho. No photos because they were closed last time visited - even though signage said they were...
