If I can't eat TCSH during this quarantine, I at least have to give them some love! This restaurant is totally unique and funky in the best way. The space is tiny and the patio is gorgeous, and the chicken is incredible. While the honey butter itself is not my personal favorite (although still amazing - I just prefer spicy over sweet), there are so many options that it's paralyzing to decide no matter how many times you've been. I love the OG fried chicken sandwich and the Camaci fried chicken sandwich. The regular ole fried chicken pieces are winners too. Finally, the side dishes are AMAZING. The pimento Mac and cheese is a constant star of my dreams, followed very closely by the garlic grits.
Besides the amazing food, the business model is awesome as well. They always partner with other local businesses to make weekly featured dishes that are always outstanding. I loved the partnership with the Green City farmer's market and the one with Bang Bang Pie. Finally, TCSH is very eco focused and obviously cares about their employees. There are signs telling customers not to tip - the employees are paid a living wage and don't have to depend on potentially stingy customers. As if I needed more reasons to love this place!
Can't wait to see you after...
Read moreLet me start by saying this is my very 1st review ive left. I never review anything becuase nothing is ever that good but folks Trohas is by far 110% the best fried shrimp, hush puppies, onion rings and macaroni salad i have ever ate. Even the cocktail and tartar sauce was out of this world! Everything was cooked perfet and seasoned perfectly and shrimp was not to small like most fried shrimp! I grew up in a tiny town in Wisconsin where every Friday was "fish fry Friday" it was like a religion lol. So ive been eating fried seafood since i was a little girl. Not even there was the fried shrimp this good. What i ordered was a tab bit expensive and i was skeptical because i had never ordered from here but i assure it was well worth every penny i spent! I would gladly order the same thing 10x over again! Also my finace is 27yo and was born and raised right here in little village and hes not fond of seafood but he said Troahs is by far the best chicken hes ever eaten. He says its best chicken joint in Chicago! If you prefer seafood or maybe you like chicken i highly suggest you try Troahs! Everything on there menu is very well priced for the quality and great portions! If i could give 10+ stars i would! Hats off to the owners and chef keep...
Read moreI went to this place for the first time yesterday, when I walked in there was a weird smell. But my girlfriend said maybe it's because they been here so long. I said ok because if I read correctly they are celebrating 90 years in business. Maybe this just wasn't the place for me I don't eat much fried food and when I do I still want a salad. The had all mayonnaise based salads, not my thing anymore but I tried it.
The coleslaw was creamy how I like it and the crab salad I couldn't figure out what was in it, but it was ok. Now the perch was fried to perfection just like the shrimp, but I would've liked it fried a little longer. I don't like rubbery meat. The shrimp was cleaned meaning it appeared to be split and deveined.
I doubt I would go back anytime soon but if I wanted fried shrimp I would. I prefer Seafood Junction it has flavor and its steamed. But Im...
