A diamond in the rough! What a wonderful restaurant to stumble upon that was absolutely fantastic! *please note: from the outside some might think it is a Mexican restaurant, but it has everything you can imagine - so don't be fooled by the outside *. (How we found this place: We were going to have breakfast at a different restaurant in shared lot but there was no parking near the other restaurant & as we were cutting through the parking lot to exit we saw this restaurant in the strip plaza tucked away toward the end & thought what the heck, let's try it). We are so happy we did. We had 8 people - we were seated immediately. Extremely friendly hostess/employees. Absolutely huge menu with so much variety it was amazing! American & Mexican choices & everything in between that you could imagine. This food was some of the most delicious food we have had. Nice large portions of everything & cooked to perfection. The waitresses were great & we never had to ask for drink refills & they accommodated every special request we had. Everything was very clean, including the spotless restrooms. Beautiful local artwork decorated the walls which was very nice. The prices were all very reasonable. Our party of 8 did not have a single complaint about anything. It was such a lovely breakfast with great friends at this wonderful restaurant that I would give 10 stars if I could! Highly recommend this restaurant & our family & friends will definitely be back again! ...And when we left we all agreed that it was so much better than the busy, large corner restaurant that has been their forever. From now on it's MANNYS RESTAURANT FOR US! and they are a fully handicap accessible restaurant with designated/marked handicap parking...
Read moreSunday morning, about 10:30. Just checked out of a B&B, looking for a nice bit of breakfast before our 120-mile drive home. The first place we stopped was incredibly jammed. Reviews for Biscuits & Gravy Cafe looked good, so we decided to give it a try. It was a bit tricky to find, as it was in the back corner of a strip mall. From the outside, little differentiates it from, say, a Subway or other small, casual chain.
The interior is basic and functional - a small waiting area sharing space with the counter and kitchen, and the adjoining dining room. The latter is spartan - about a dozen tables against the walls and front window, each seating from two to about six. Artwork from a local artist - each piece available for purchase - adorns a portion of one wall; the rest are empty. All surfaces - walls, tables, floors - are spotless. Since there were only two of us, as opposed to the families waiting to be seated, we were shown to a two-top almost immediately and had coffee within minutes.
The focus is, as it should be, on the food and service. Our server, a young woman of high school or college age, was cheerful and attentive without being overbearing. I had a massive breakfast burrito - easily 8” long and 2” in diameter - loaded with eggs, spinach, potatoes, cheese, avocado, and sausage. Hot, fresh and tasty, it was served with a small, cool dish of strawberries, blueberries, and melon. My wife had a crispy Belgian waffle nearly as large as her dinner plate, with a side of four strips of bacon. The food (and coffee) was very good.
Not being from the Chicago area, the prices were a little higher than we were accustomed to, but were reasonable for the area. If we’re in the area again,...
Read moreThis biscuit Gravy café is the best place that I had ever been to. the ambiance of this place is immaculate, literally. The vibes are on point and it really did change my mood up. The whole interior of the place is also amazing, especially the inside of the café. It is clean, neat, well organized, bright, tidy, and decent. It really has that peaceful atmosphere that you would look for if ever you need time to think or just have a simple dine-in. A friend of mine suggested this place since my work is online, so it had been my go-to place to work on ever since. It isn’t really always work but the ambiance really just suits me up. It is really soothing and calming. I would always order their Cinnamon French toast, Biscuits and gravy, Eggs and bacon, and their hot Choco. If there isn’t one, coffee would definitely solve the problem. Their foods are definitely the highlight of their place, just perfect! Their service is also great. Very much recommend this place to everyone. Definitely would like to go back here again for another neat and calming work! Thank you guys for the great experiences each time! Good...
