Mariscos El Vallartazo — Restaurant in West Chicago

We were greeted right away, we were given our table in a nice area, very clean. The waitress came and treated very kindly and brought us our drinks and very kindly took our order. They kept on top of our needs if we needed anything else. I would recommend this place to everyone. The food was delicious. The drinks were amazing back to the food. You cannot go wrong at this restaurant. The only downfall is that had live music that was way too loud, and we cannot hear each other speaking to one another at the table. And it was hard for the waitress or even the gentleman that was picking up the plate to hear Us and that’s difficult on their part when they’re trying to do their job. I don’t think they need those people to go to the table to sing. Again is way too loud. I would say that’s the only downfall that I see to mention. when we walked in the band was not playing they only had music playing, which was very nice very nice music I liked it.

Until the real musicians started playing and we could not speak or hear one another at the table.

My husband‘s birthday is on Tuesday, which is tomorrow. But we went to try this place out yesterday.

So the question is, would you recommend this place to family and friends my answer would be yes definitely yes. I can’t tell you about the bathroom because I did not use them.

This was my second time coming here, and unfortunately, the same issues happened again. We originally thought the first experience was a one-time thing, but clearly not. While the food is good, the wait time is absolutely unreasonable. We waited over an hour, and dishes came out one at a time. We were a party of six and didn’t even receive three of our meals.

The service was just as disappointing—no one checked in on our table, and the fried cheese sticks with fries we ordered for my toddler never came. What’s frustrating is that other fried items like the calamari, shrimp, and even a pasta dish made it out of the kitchen, but somehow the toddler’s simple meal didn’t? When we asked about it, the excuse was that the food we ordered “takes time”.

We eventually left because the food was taking far too long, and when we asked to remove the items we never received, the staff got defensive. I would not recommend this place unless you’re okay with long waits and poor service. Definitely needs...

If I could give them zero stars I would, Went there twice, First time it was a Saturday night, place was crowded, the service was mediocre, food was ok, ordered Sopa de Mariscos, they use frozen ingredients and it felt like they thaw them out on the micro, (when you do that, the seafood becomes rubbery), I said, "well maybe it is because they are very busy, at the end of my meal, I went to the cashier to pay for my meal because the waitress was very busy and I did not want to take anymore of her time, I payed the bartender who is the cashier as well, when she gave me my change I told her to give it to the waitress who served me, server was a couple of feet away, but could not hear us because of the loud music, Bartender instead of giving her the money she put it back in the drawer!!!
