Come shop and slip back in time, enjoy sitting at your grandparents' table and order up a float, a sandwich, or shrimp and grits! A delicious fajita quesadilla came steaming to the table. They tasted even better than they looked, delicious! I would have enjoyed a few chips and salsa, that is extra, but they do offer it. Daily soups are hot, just add a grilled cheese sandwich! The menu is varied, it fits everyone's taste buds. Burger baskets to frito pie, there is a salad bar or order one of the yummy, creative sandwiches that accent the ice cream specialty offerings. Banana splits, malts, shakes, or just a cone is a perfect reason to stop by Carta Valley. There are local spirit items, vintage decor and handmade products for sale, a large assortment of knives make the perfect gift choice or you can purchase a trendy shirt or bag, hats or caps, there is a wide variety. Locally made spice and dip mixes are offered by one vendor, another has accessories. In between glass bottles of soda or bags of chips, there is that dessert case with handmade baked goods. FYI the Texas sheet cake was almost sold out before we ordered lunch at this busy local favorite spot, so I pre-ordered the slice. It was delicious, a heaping portion, or should I say it was Texas-sized! And that was just one of the cakes offered daily. The pass through to the neighboring sportsman's paradise should be more encouragement to get everyone inside to look, shop, wish, and taste! Tables were filled with groups, couples, and families and turned over well. Small staff size this day prevented constant attention. The tables were clean, the menu is readable, and the chairs were comfortable. Water cups are an additional charge, you will need to get up and refill your own drinks when the staff is busy, but enjoy a...
Read moreSaw burgers and sandwiches, so on the fly decided to check it out. Got our babies out of the car and walked in to the business only to be "greeted" by a very disgruntled and disgusted looking woman with a hell of an attitude and a "ummm can i help yall". Taken back as to why we are not welcome in a business that is open to the public, we ask "oh are yall closed?", while looking at a lit up OPEN sign and business. "Well we close in 2 minutes" with even more attitude! I have never experienced more rude, unwelcoming woman, i really hope shes not the owner but i really believe she is which is like terribly sad. I immediately turn around to walk out, saying to my friend "yea, we wont be coming back to this place, whats her problem". While putting our babies back in the car she proceeded to come out to get a sign and decides maybe she should be nice to us and asks if we were just wanting to come in and look around. I say no ma'am we wanted to eat at your restaurant, arent from here and were passing by, saw your place and thought it looked good, we didnt know what time you closed. Then she tries to say something about she wasnt coming to the door just to tell us to leave. And i said ma'am the way you spoke to us, 'ummm can i help yall' like we are trash or not even supposed to walk in your store. You really shouldnt speak to people like that if you want to have a successful business. I am amazed I had to explain that to a like 70year old women. I will not be back, I will not recommend this place to anyone. In fact I will let everyone know the extremely negative experience I had here, an experience that has bothered me so much it's now two days after and I'm still very upset at the way this women...
Read moreAbsolute Gem of a hole in the wall! We enjoyed everything we ordered. It was delicious! Shrimp & Grits, Carta Club sandwich, meatball sandwich, loaded Mac'n cheese, and the burger were all delicious! We also loved the old soda shoppe vibe! The owners were very sweet and hands on during the whole experience! I love that it is a local, family-ran business that offers local goods as well! I purchased an apron made by the owners' mom after we finished eating. Just an overall...
