Update on 2/24/21 Always good to great, but never disappoints. Ordered the 1/2 chicken plate with 1/2 beans 1/2 rice and side salad. The food is always pretty good, but chicken a slightly on the dry side this time but not a major issue. The green sauce which is usually the highlight of the meal was a little off though. Grainier than I remember and not as spicy. Rice and beans were as good as ever and service spot on. ————- Great little Peruvian restaurant in West Covina. Everything here is amazing but the chicken, rice and green salsas are the stand outs for sure. On this trip we tried the Tallarin Verde with pollo and Lomo Salgado com bistec. Both were amazing and they gave us extra liquid gold, aka green salsa, to go which was awesome. Of course they are take out only these days, but do take orders I eat the phone so it made the trip easy and quick without having to stand around waiting for our food in the tiny shop.

Chickens on spits roasting in a fire pit. Smells heavenly. Whole chicken meal with two large sides amounted to about $30+ with tax. The chicken was juicy and quite flavorful, I didn’t even need the sauces. You can choose from three: spicy green sauce, ‘Asian flavored sauce,” and Chimichuri. For the whole chicken meal you get 6 little containers, thus I chose two of each. For the two large sides, I got beans and french fries. Beans were good, fries were lightly salted, just how I like them. The fries came out piping hot but soggy. I prefer them crispy. I enjoyed the spicy sauce the most on my fries. The best part of the meal was the dessert which I scarfed down while waiting for my order. The alfajor was a lightly sweetened, crumbly cookie filled with ooey-gooey dulce de leche. I want to come back to taste the lomo saltado.

The food and service was excellent. Friendly staff in person and on the telephone upon placing the advanced order. Since it was my first time visiting Mr. Pollo, I decided to order their most traditional/standard dishes: Lomo Saltado, Pollo Saltado, and a whole roast chicken - Pollo a la Brasa. All three dishes were amazing! Both Saltados have the meats perfectly seared over crispy french fries and steamy white rice. The Pollo a la Brasa was well marinated both inside and outside the chicken with a mesquite, smoky flavour produced by the firewood used during the roasting process. This fragrance is immediately noticeable upon entering the restaurant.

We ordered over the phone and the operator asked if we wanted sauce. We told her yes the spicy green sauce. We got there paid and picked up our order. I asked the front cashier for the green sauce and she said it was in the bag. At this point we had already walked out. I noticed there was no green sauce in the bag so I told my husband to check and he said he didn't see it either. I went back inside and told the person in front that there wasn't sauce and she once again said it should be in the bag. So my husband said maybe it is inside the actual container of food so we left. Sure enough there was no sauce. So I ate disappointing food. Spice is super important to me so without it my meal was mediocre at best. This place used to give you sauce containers and you could help yourself. I understand that with COVID things have changed but I shouldn't have to ask 2 times for sauce and still end up going home without it. It had been a while since I had gone to Mr. Pollo since we moved a little further away from there but I dont think I will be coming back soon. They will have plenty of customers without me anyways the place is...

To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I placed an order over the phone and was told that it would be 45 minutes. I took my time getting there. 40 minutes had past so I went inside to pay for my order and was told it would be an additional 15 minutes. So I went back to my car and set the timer for 15 more minutes. After the additional 15 minutes I went back inside to pick up my order. As soon as I walked in the employees told me my order was not ready. And would be atleast another 10 minutes and proceeded to tell me that they had other orders ahead of my order and were really busy. So by this time I've had it. I just wanted to leave. I asked for my money back and left. I get it that restaurants get busy. But they were the ones that told me 45 minutes. If they were busy and had big orders ahead of my order. They could have easily said it would be an hour or more. I feel they wasted my time. This was the first time I visited this place and will...
