Faustinos Breakfast & Tacos — Restaurant in West Des Moines

What a great spot for top-notch tacos and delightful chips and salsa!

My brother and I dropped by after the Renaissance Faire. I ordered a cabeza taco and a nopalito taco, while my brother chose two quesabirria tacos. The cabeza meat was very soft and flavorful, and the cactus taco was also delicious. My brother scarfed down his birria tacos, saying they were tender and juicy. We also got the fresh chips with mango, avocado, and traditional salsa. I especially enjoyed the mango and avocado salsas on my tacos – the mango sauce had a sweetness with a subtle, non-overpowering hint of spice, it reminded me of the mango sauce I've had in Guatemala. To drink, I had the strawberry agua fresca, which was refreshing, nice amount of sweetness, and fresh strawberry flavor.

Aside from the food, I have to commend the incredible artwork on the walls. From the moment you walk in, the talent on display is truly inspiring, especially on the right side of the restaurant. We decided to stop by this new location and try it for the first time.

My son had the burrito, my wife had the fancy taco, and I went with the street tacos: carnitas and chorizo. We also tried the chips with queso, which was fantastic. I think one of my favorite options was the numerous different salsas at the salsa bar that you can try with your food.

Service was great; right when we walked in, we put in our order and got our food relatively quickly.
