I wouldn't recommend going here unless you just wanted to get some ice cream. Tried the dairy free oreo from grassroots and it was pretty good. The serving sizes were a little small and a bit overpriced. I also found it odd that the default tip was set to 7%. The food wasn't good. Had the nachos from Paki Taco and there wasn't anything to it. The keema tasted like ground beef with stale garam marsala. It lacked quite a bit of flavor. The cheese was just packaged shreaded cheese, it wasn't even melted. The rest of the food trucks seemed really overpriced. You kind of expect food trucks to serve good food, but everyone could do better than those nachos at home. The seating wasn't great. It's not really a park. It's just gravel with some beat looking tables. The trash bins had black handles and are in the sun. The handles burn you and the trash festers from the heat. They had someone using a broom to push the dust into the gravel area, but they did the cleaning right next to you, so you got dust in your food and mouth. Overall, it feels like there needs to be some work put into this place by the management. At least set up some speakers to play music. Fix the trash bins. Put up a sign for the bathrooms, so you don't have to search around to find them. There has to be a ton of food trucks with decent food willing to take up spaces there. Also, it seems like all the folks working there took up all the parking. There were only a few families there, but every parking...
Read moreI had no idea what this place was about. So here is the lowdown. It sits a little off of New Park Ave in West Hartford. It is an unassuming poorly constructed rectangular one floor building (which at the present seems to only have restrooms. The outside has a seating area with a variety of heavy wood tables placed comfortably apart. On the periphery of this seating area, there were three food trucks, which I understand rotate on a daily basis. The night I was there, there was a Mexican food truck, a barbecue food truck , and a mishmash truck that had mixed drinks, sliders,Korean and chicken, a loaded hot dog, and mexican corn to name few. All ordering and eataing is done outside. Our table had a burrito, barbecued pork, mac and cheese, corn bread, a margarita,, a chili dog and mexican corn. Most were highly touted. My hot dog was average and the chilli was very dry. My Mexican corn was delicious but minuscule. The place was funky, but fun and certainly met the standards of Covid dining, however the few scattered heat lamps did little to distill the chill of a 50 degree temperature. I wish there had been a more gourmet quality to the food, but maybe the Hartford area does not have gourmet food trucks However, the idea is clever and timely and the concept is novel, so I wish them well and...
Read moreThis is a very unique and eclectic spot that would only be found in West Hartford. It is a combo indoor/outdoor facility wherein it is designed to host multiple food trucks for its patrons at the same time. The food is generally good and there is rotating variety which can be previewed on social media to observe which trucks will be on site at one time. Inside there is a permanent set of vendors (Solid State - a great micro-bakery and Alvarium's new cafe spot which has great coffee). There is also a bar with basic drinks and mediocre food inside; but when you come to GastroPark you come for the food trucks and coffee. Indoors there are permanent well-maintained bathrooms for all, which is nice. The only minor down side is that food truck prices have gone crazy post pandemic - so the idea of saving a buck eating with paper plates and utensils from a restaurant without a brick and mortar home to support is, alas, out of reach. The coffee is reasonably priced and can be a fun spot to visit and catch up with friends (especially on a beautiful day). GastroPark has a schedule of weekly trivia and live music frequently also. The social and atmospheric elements to this unique location end up winning my endorsement as a great place to visit on a...
