They’ve held the bottom spot on the American Customer Satisfaction Index for five straight years. Nearly everyone has a bad customer service story from McDonald’s.
McDonald’s itself even admitted that it’s “service is broken” on a 2013 webcast for franchise owners.
In my book, Service Failure, I related a story of a McDonald's Supervisor who told me he doesn't speak "Spanish" but he was verbal abusive, his employees in Spanish and he has poor customer skills in general. It's hard to pin that incident on McDonald's, but I could easily blame the employee's supervisor. Who hired and trained that supervisor? A McDonald's franchise operator. The reality for McDonald's is a large part of their customer service reputation rests in the hands of their franchisees but I hope your be able to training, educate your staff better, for a service that should be friendly and courteous, fast and efficient. Read moreThe food is always hot and good, but one step inside this building and you get the sense that there’s no pride. I entered this restaurant at about 3:50 pm on Wednesday May 10th. No welcoming words from any of the personnel, just conversations in the kitchen about their personal lives as they acted as though customers can’t hear them. You really get the sense that there’s no pride in this building when you see how dirty the tables are and how long they stay dirty. 15 minutes into my visit, and still no associates coming out to clean the tables. I came in and updated the review at 4:27 pm, still no cleaning done. It was hard to find a place to sit without feeling disgusted. From the dirty tables to the decrepit furniture and some patrons cursing in the dining room while no employees did anything about it, I can tell nobody that works here cares about their job. The spanish lady at the drive through thought I wanted hashbrowns for free but I just didn’t understand the deal she explained about them. I heard her speaking badly about me in spanish on the microphone to the lady doing the burgers. I speak spanish fluently so I understood every word and confronted her about it telling her that I didn’t not want it for free. I go and get the 2 mc griddles. Just to find out when I get home that the second mc griddle only had the top and bottom bun and NOTHING inside. Pretty petty and funny to them but what If That was the only money I had to get a chance to eat? I don’t know who the lady is and I can really describe her.
