I had a very uncomfortable encounter with the manager yesterday. I had ordered my meal to go and having ordered a medium spice previously for a curry and it having no spice, I ordered the rice noodle dish spicy and asked for extra chili sauce on the side. When i opened my dish at home (12 minutes away) it was covered in chili sauce. I figured instead of putting the extra chili sauce on the side they had dumped it on top. I did not want to drive back and sat down to eat my food. About a third of the way through I was bracing for every bite and suffering my way through it This was supposed to be two meals and I wasn't even enjoying the first one. I called and was told to bring the food back. I threw away what I was eating and returned with half the food in the container. The manager was not aware I was coming and scolded me for returning a half eaten dish. I tried to explain I threw away the portion I was eating. He then scolded me for how I ordered my food, calling over the waitress to verify I had ordered it spicy. What??? I am a customer that is unhappy with the way the food was prepared and you are scolding me? I am in a small restaurant where you are scolding me in front of other customers. Do you think I am scamming you for a free meal? A free meal is not worth what I endured. It is difficult because West Jefferson does not have many good restaurants. And perhaps, this Manager knows that, so he feels he can treat his customers like bad little children. It may work for a while, but in the end, customers are what make a business successful and if you scold your customers like children they will stop...
Read moreI had high hopes that this would be one of our new favorite places but, sadly, that’s not the case. I ordered the basil sauce with grilled chicken but was told by the waiter that it was “not available today”. So I ordered a curry dish that I was also told was “not available today”. Hmmm….when I asked what they might actually have that was on the menu, I was told it was either Pad Thai or Fried Rice. Again, hmmm….full page menu, but they only had two options?? So, I got the Pad Thai and my husband got the fried rice. Both were as tasteless as cardboard. Mine was topped with some sort of freezer style fried chicken cutlet like you’d get on a gas-station grill fried chicken sandwich. Ugh! I had asked for the Pad Thai to be “Thai hot” and was told by the waiter “Ok. But no send backs”. I instead got something as spicy as a can of spaghetti-o’s. When I pointed out to the waiter that it wasn’t “Thai hot” he told me that most people think that ‘Thai hot” is too spicy so they just made it a “little spicy”, but I could have it hotter the next time I came in. What??!! I won’t be going back. I can’t speak to the quality of the sushi, but as far as the Thai menu, this was an epic fail and I won’t be going back so that they can choose what I eat and how...
Read moreOk, this review is not meant to be mean, just honest. I am originally from this great area of NC and was so excited to know we have Thai food available. However, I will tell you about my recent experience. First off, I have eaten Thai food all over the World and lived overseas for almost a decade and my family and I seek out Thai restaurants wherever we travel. The overall taste of the Basil fried rice was just OK, the fried chicken with it was different. Also, there was no combo dish available like at most Thai places. The biggest disappointment was the prices, service, and portions. I ask to have extra fried rice with the meal (spicy basil fried rice with chicken but was brought out white steamed rice in a bowl. The owner then told our waitress "We don't do that". I was not asking for it for free, just that they add more fried rice while preparing it. Waitress became upset because when she would come to the table, she would not recognize people needed drinks when their glasses were clearly empty. Lastly, prices were as if I was in NY instead of NC and NO SPICE TRAY. The small Thai place on the back street is wonderful, hours are funny, but I felt they really appreciate...
