Big Boy Dining OutBig Boy Dining Out
N.Y. Pizza Spot 2231 W. New Haven Ave. West Melbourne, FL 32904 4.5 Stars Hear Ye! Hear Ye! We have a new Big Boy Dining Out Top 5 Pizza joint in Brevard County! If you are any kind of follower, you have noticed my vocal disdain for so-called “New York” pizza. Ketchup and shredded mozzarella on top of baked flatbread is not my idea of pizza. Stepping up to the counter, I put in a to-go order for one Sonny's Tomato & Basil (they made me an offer I couldn't refuse), Spaghetti with Sausage and one Sausage Roll. The place wasn't busy but had a few patrons at tables. It wasn't long before I snapped pictures of my order, which was up in no time. Rushing home as the succulent smells assaulted my olfactory nerve, my taste buds were at full attention when I pulled into BBDO HQ. I grabbed a piece of pie in my mitts and took a considerable bite. Holy Joltin' Joe! That's-a some pizza pie! It was so flavorful, so fresh, it gave me an instant Bronx accent. As with all things bread-based, if the bread blows, so goes the dish. This dough was flavorful, not too thin or thick and cooked to perfection. The ingredients were fresh and succulent. I am sure they do not have a garden in the back, but the tomato and basil tasted so fresh you could never convince my palate of that. Before the clowns start blabbering about how this isn't “New York” pizza, I want to say Thank The Bowery Boys because New York “style” pizza is atrocious. I also don't want to bend an ear to “the dough is under/over cooked or too thick/thin for authentic NY pizza. Yada, yada, yada, I've heard it all before. If I had stopped at the pizza, this would be 5 stars, so maybe focus on that. I also ordered some Spag w/Sausage. This was better than average. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the marinara sauce deliciously simple in its complexity and the sausage sincerely scrumptious. We are still at 5 stars, but the dial may be weighted down. This brings me to the last item for review and the reason for the half star off a perfect 5. The outside of the roll was okay. It was tasty with the herb/butter coating and the bread was baked spot on; however, when I cracked it open, I was face to face with what could only have been previously frozen, pre-sliced sausage. How could you cut THAT corner of all corners? Anyway, this here joint has some amazin' pie. The Big Boy says, “You can skip the Brazilian junk pizza shops and come out to West “By Gawd” Melbourne to the NY Pizza Spot. This is great pizza.

This cute little Italian pizza joint was a gem that im glad we found! For what it was they hit all the marks. Good atmosphere, friendly servers, amazing food and prompt service. When we first arrived around 5P.M. there was only one person dining in and for the entire first half of our meal there was nobody else in the restaurant by the end of our meal around 615 or so the place was packed. Something I love to see when I go out to eat is servers who work together, this place delivered that, if one got to busy and saw we needed help they would come over and top off our drinks instead of waiting for our designated server to get around to us. Because of this our drinks were never empty for long, and our table was always cleared from clutter. We ordered a large variety of things to eat and were rewarded with one of my favorite things an Italian restaurant has to offer; generous portions. We mistakenly expected small portions and got more food than we could handle. Our order was Tortellini alla Italiana with Pasta E Fagioli, Gnocchi and spinach Alfredo with garlic Knotts and a 24 in" cheese pizza with extra cheese and half pepperoni. Pasta e Fagioli - gentle flavor. Great balance, pleasant salty flavor from the pork. Garlic Knotts - not a highlight, good garlic flavor. Soft dough, airy interior. Still overall not bad, nice with a marinara (creamy flavor not to acidic) felt more like a roll than a knott. Tortellini alla Italiana - Tortellini had a nice bite to it, the sauce was creamy with a bold cheesyness boastong a light ham flavor. Overall Big portion. Gnocchi and Spinach Alfredo -The Gnocchi itself was light and semifirm, it had a great bite to it and it want overcooked. It came in a sauce that had a smooth spinach flavor, blends with well with the cheese sauce Another very filling big portion 24 inch pizza. - its no joke, massive pizza, cheese is stringy and has a nice bite to it, good crust that isn't scratchy on the mouth, a little soggy under the crust after a couple minutes but not unpleasant. The crust is crispy, and overall a tad bit greesy. Still an excellent pizza. The server even took one of the slices back and cut it up for my daughter so we didn't have to.

But I’m going to say is I’ve been going to NYC pizza spot for a long time I moved here a few years ago and it’s the only place here in the Melbourne area that I feel has the best tasting pizza grading ingredients very quality, so this is my first time buying spaghetti and meatballs, but I must say I was a little thrown off because I said well maybe the specialties is not pasta or spaghetti or meat sauces for spaghetti not sure And I don’t want to confuse clients I’m just letting y’all know they are the greatest pizzeria for pizza and the calzones are outstanding salad is always fantastic fantastic but upon choosing something else just to have a different experience it wasn’t that great and I do apologize I had to post it because I just want them to understand that if they’re gonna offer pasta, dishes and stuff I just want them to be as great as your pizza, OK well that’s all I have to say the photo here represents what I received today and I don’t know if it’s just a one off but this does not look appealing to me and I did taste it. It wasn’t bad per in taste but I just don’t know what I have It doesn’t taste like an Italian spaghetti meal it tastes like some sauce that was like redone, and my meatballs looked as if they were burnt and never never seen that before from anyone so guys keep doing what you’re doing. Y’all are great restaurant, but please whoever made this today. They shouldn’t be able to touch pot.
