Had been wanting to stop in as I remember getting excited when I saw the name on the door before they opened. I have been disappointment in Melbourne as a whole for its cuisine. Just thought I might add this. I finally stopped in just a little before noon today. My gaze never went beyond the glass and neon sign in the window. As soon as I opened the door I became excited. The menu itself draws you right in. It’s dense but not overwhelming. As I focused on with my eyes on the details I got more excited. I remember thinking, authentic! As I walked towards the counter and around the other happy looking folks m the diner, I saw the pasties in the display below. Oh my! Such delicious looking pastries and fried plantains, etc. Any pastry that looks like these do must be delicious. This will be ky excuse for coming next time in a day or two. So, my go to is a Cuban sandwich. It was almost a given this will be my first dish to try. I mentioned this to the young woman at the counter and she explained to me the quality of the sandwich. Two Cubans were being delivered to another customer so she asked the other young lady to swing around as she was walking to give me a peak. Sold! with a reassurance I have made a great choice. A lot of food I was thinking. I got a cafe de leche. Good choice. Sweet with coffee and milk. Hit my craving for this morning. I sat down of course where the televisions are and the music is playing. Very nice atmosphere to enjoy your meal. Everything about this place is balanced. Music is the perfect volume. You can still enjoy the other customers Spanish conversations. . . I am trying to learn Spanish. The second television is showing some scenery of Cuba and people on the streets. Nice touch! Food came! First bite into the fried Yucca. Delightful. Perfectly fried and good texture. Second bite dipped into the cilantro sauce. Second level of fresh taste for the tastebuds. Now for the first bite of the Cuban. Presentation leaves nothing to be desired. First bite . . . Amazing. Pulled pork is cooked slowly all night. The bread had a slight slide towards a pastry dough with a lightness to it but filling. I love good bread. The texture of the sandwich is perfect. The taste is amazing and you will just have to try for yourself. The staff is super friendly and happy to serve you great food. I am so happy to come to this place. My first experience was excellent. The food alone will bring me back, but the atmosphere will want to make you stay and enjoy your food. Thank you for the great food and service and bringing a little culture to the area. Will be seeing you soon. This is the kind of place that if you don’t enjoy, you are impossible to please and don’t like anything. If you like satisfying your tastebuds, this is a great...
Read moreSO, SO, SO GOOD!!!! Oh my gosh, I haven’t had food this good in a while. I got the Cuban Sausage and let me tell you, it was to die for! The eggs were cooked to perfection. I don’t even like eggs usually but these were perfectly fluffy scrambled eggs with amazing flavor, not soggy at all and not too hard. And you know how sometimes eggs can taste too eggy? These didn’t have that problem at all, they tasted amazing. The sausage with peppers and onions was some of the best sausage I’ve ever had. The home-fried potatoes were perfect, the Cuban bread was perfect, and the empanadas!!! Oh my goodness, the empanadas were amazing too. They were fresh even though we came in like about an hour before they closed and they were so hot they were steaming. Perfectly crispy and seasoned well. They tasted homemade 🖤. Also!! I almost forgot to mention the café con leche. Oh my gosh the café con leche was so good. It was actually, and I’m not exaggerating at all, the best coffee I’ve ever had. It was better than Starbucks, better than Dunkin, better than most of the other cafes I’ve been to around here. I got mine with 5 sugars in it because I like it sweet. Seriously amazing coffee. I know it might be hard to believe that a place can be so perfect, but this place really is. Everything here is delicious, the restaurant is clean and had a great little cafe atmosphere with Latin music playing, the food came out quickly, and the people who work here are very nice. Definitely my new favorite place to go for a weekend breakfast/lunch or to grab a coffee and a snack before work. This place should be one of those legendary local spots...

I don’t usually write reviews as often as I should, but this experience moved me to share. From the moment I walked into Breakfast in Havana, I was greeted with the warmest, most radiant smile—one that instantly made me feel welcome and at ease.
I asked for recommendations, and they paired me with the perfect breakfast. I also ordered a Cuban coffee, which was just as incredible as the meal itself. The empanadas were a delicious bonus, and when the food arrived, I was genuinely amazed. The portions were generous, the flavors were phenomenal, and the value was outstanding.
But what truly sets this place apart is the heart behind it. Rebecca and her mother—the owners—are the soul of this restaurant. Their kindness, hospitality, and genuine warmth created an experience that felt more like being welcomed into someone’s home than dining out. After my meal, they took the time to share stories about their home country, Cuba, and made me feel like part of their extended family.
Having just moved here from California, I can honestly say this was one of the most memorable and meaningful meals I’ve had. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying their Cuban sandwich, which I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about.
