We went just after 2:30, on Fri 12/8/17. Had to wait about 10-12 minutes in line. Found a table OK. Food was good, unless you wanted fried catfish. Everybody else wanted it too. The small pans they bring out are gone instantly, and it's a long time before any more comes out. Hey, folks in this area like catfish, OK ? They could easily back off on some of the less popular items & cook more of what people want. I love GOOD soft serve vanilla ice cream, like they have at Granny's. GC has a soft serve machine, but the vanilla side was broke, they said. So I don't know if their soft serve vanilla is any good or not. The rolls, grilled chicken breast, and chocolate cake were good. Finally got our waitress to bring some fish off a new pan. It was good. And the waitress was VERY good & friendly. Best part was the price. With our senior discount, it was $7.79 + tax, drinks included. Don't know if that is some sort of special introductory price, or the regular price. Hey, a big burger, fries, & drink are that much at some places. I think this will be a very good place to eat, once the new wears off & things settle down. Right now, there's just too many people, during the 11-2:30 lunch hours. So, I'll give it 4 stars, assuming that it'll get better & the soft serve vanilla is good, & the machine will work next time we go. My wife agrees on a 4 star rating, for now.
Update: We went for another lunch on Mon 12/18/17. The wait was about the same. But, there were a lot fewer people, and plenty of tables. Didn't have to wait very long to get some fried catfish, this time. Some of the breakfast items were still on the line. The biscuits were really good. My wife got some sausage gravy & link sausage. She said that their breakfast items may be the best things on the menu.
The waitress brought us some hot rolls, which are very good. I tried several of the desserts. My favorites are the Chocolate cake, Carrot cake, and the vanilla soft-serve ice cream. The ice cream is not the best I've had, but is good. It has a good flavor, but is just a bit too smooth, for my liking.
That was the good news. The bad news is that those cheap prices we got last time were just special introductory prices. The new senior citizen prices are over $12 a head, for lunch. The total bill was over $50 for 4 seniors. :( So, that was probably our last time to eat there. There are just several other buffets in our area, which we like, which are several dollars cheaper, & have a lot more parking...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo, my mother and I went in for breakfast with a coupon for $6.99 with free milk, coffee, and juice. She got a glass of water since she was going to get coffee, and I got a glass for juice because I didn't know if there were glasses for juice on the floor. We got up there to pay for the meal and made small talk with the man working the register, and I asked where the juice was, and he told me on the floor. My mother tried to give him the coupon, but he said we didn't need it right now and to keep it to use after three weeks. We thought there was a special going on, so we didn't use it.
Well, we sat down and got our food, but no server was around, so my mother got up and went behind the server station to get it herself, but it been on there for so long that the pot was stuck to the burner. So, she walked to the other side of the building and finally found someone. They got a server for us who filled up her coffee, but afterwards, she didn't come back to once to check up on us, so my mother only got one cup of coffee.
On the way out, my mother noticed that we were charged full price, so she stopped and ask the same guy working the register why were charged that price. He said that since my mother got water that he thought we wasn't going to use the deal or the coupon, which is stupid because water is free anyway so is the milk, juice, and coffee, and we didn't get any soda. To that my mother said that I asked about the juice, and she tried to use the coupon. He said sorry, but that just how it is and to have a nice day.
The food was good, but we will not be coming back. Also, maybe put the coffee cups by the glasses before the register, so that people can put on the table and hopefully a server will come by and see it and fill it up. Otherwise, I doubt they would stop...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give NO stars, I absolutely would!!! I wish I had thought to ask what the health rating was because I didn't see it, BUT it has to be -100. My family and I are headed back home from a 5 day vacation in Texas and wanted something that was familiar and something affordable that has always been good to us, so we stopped at this Golden Corral. Stopping here was a grave mistake from the first red flag walking in!! The atmosphere is dirty and nasty. The employee at the front cash register was slouchy and inattentive. My girls had to use the bathroom emergent when we entered the building and before we could finish paying for the meal, they returned talking about how disgusting the bathroom was...so disgusting that they knew I would not want to go in. Luckily, the manager walked up, and I told her, and she directed me to a "family" bathroom....it was better than what my daughters had described from the other bathroom. However, still not 100%. The dining room on the side where the bathrooms were smelled awful, just not sure if it was because there is a sewer issue or because it was just that close to the nasty bathrooms. Fast forward to the food... although the presentation wasn't good, in fact everything looked kinda bland and gross..I just picked some things that are generally ok and hard to mess up. Once again,....HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!! The food was basically cold...luke warm if not ICE COLD. There was nothing I had that was hot or tasted real fresh. I gave up and realized I had made a horrible recommendation to my family and immediately felt bad. We left with less money and hungry stomachs!! DO THE WORLD A FAVOR AND SHUT THIS GOLDEN CORRAL DOWN!! If you read this and value your money or even your digestive system... DO NOT STOP, KEEP GOING!!...
