Carvel — Restaurant in West Orange

The worker asked what size ice cream I wanted and I said "a medium cup". She told me that a medium was only 2 scoops. I pointed to the scoops size chart on the glass and told her it was 3 scoops on there. She said all she knows is that a medium is 2 scoops. I repeated that the picture showed 3 scoops. The worker said she could not see it because it was not facing her. I motioned for her to come around and look at it, but she refused. She was acting like she was in a hurry, even though there was only 1 other person waiting.

So, I took a picture of the scoops size chart with my phone and showed it to her. She was huffing, puffing and rude while waiting for me to take the picture and show it to her. When she saw it, she said "well I can give you 2 scoops and a little scoop".

Then a younger woman entered the store without a mask on (or visible), ignoring the sign on the door about how masks were required for entry. I did not see her sanitize her hands. Carvel now open on Northfield Ave across from Turtle Back Zoo And the Safari Mini Golf Adventure! Today we stopped for some ice cream and we delighted to find an incredibly clean Carvel with many Covid19 updates in place. There were markers for social distancing and plexiglass to separate the guests and workers. The workers were kind and helpful and got the order right! I was happy to see how many different cakes could be ordered via the cake book I videoed below! The soft serve was perfect and there were six choices of it. The hand dipped had many more flavors! I took a pic of all the available toppings! As for me I went with the chocolate chocolate brownie! Yum to the max. This is a perfect location for a Carvel and I’m sure we will be stopping here quite a lot! They also have all the usual specials like Wednesday is Sundae at Carvel! Its always a good time for ice cream!!...

I was there recently to pick up a birthday cake. The young man behind the counter was very sweet and apologized in advance if the writing wasn't so nice because he was still learning. I told him anything he does is way better than I would do! He told me that another customer has complained about his cake writing skills. It wasn't until he said that that I noticed he has a physical deformity and that made me really sad for h that a customer would be so disgusting. Kudos to. Carvel for giving this young man a chance. He did a wonderful job on the cake...
