Service was poor. After 5 of us sat at a table around 2:30 PM on a Sunday, 3 staff people who were 20 feet away, in direct line of sight, went about their business for 10 minutes or more, like we were invisible. At that time, they had 1 person at another table and 1 couple that showed up during the 10 minutes. Still, no one greeted us, offered drinks, or even looked in our direction. Finally, I had to get up, walk to the counter to ask if they offered table service. A girl claimed that they did (could have fooled us!), came over a few minutes later, took one appetizer order, turned and walked away without offering beverages. We had to call her back! After one person ordered a bottle of water, the waitress then just stood there in silence for a long time until a 15 yr old in our group broke the awkward silence by asking, “Well, what other drinks do you have?” Despite the high prices in this very unimpressive store-front Mexican restaurant, not even a small handful of taco chips were put out with salsa to welcome a customer. But the strangest thing was that meal portions were extremely out of balance/out of proportion to each other. For essentially the same price per person, an order of 4 tacos was stingy, undersized and surprising small— more like an appetizer for two. But an order of Nachos was gigantic!!…too much for 3 people. It looked like an appetizer for 8 people, but in any case was 4-5 times the size of a Taco order. This might sound like a deal for the Nachos diner, but if so, it shortchanges everyone else. When each diner is paying around the same price per entree, the portions should be equivalent so that everyone is comfortable. At Fokelore, this concept is beyond their comprehension. That said, no side dishes, embellishments or garnish accompanied anything, and the food was ordinary at best. Five people paid $120 for what? I would never go near Fokelore again. Two stars is probably...
Read moreI recently discovered a hidden gem in West Orange, NJ – Folklore Artisanal Taco – and it instantly became my go-to spot for authentic and delicious tacos. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Sonya, who was taking orders with a warm smile and exceptional kindness. Her attentiveness and great recommendations added to the delightful experience.
I decided to try the shrimp tacos based on Sonya's suggestion, and they did not disappoint. Each taco was generously loaded with perfectly cooked shrimp, nestled in a soft corn tortilla and topped with fresh onions and cilantro or mixed cabbage. The side of salsa verde and aioli was the perfect complement, adding a burst of flavor to every bite. With four tacos per order, it was a satisfying and hearty meal.
The guacamole and chips were another highlight of my visit. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, perfectly paired with the crispy chips. To top off the meal, I enjoyed a refreshing hibiscus water, which was a wonderful complement to the savory tacos and guacamole.
Folklore Artisanal Taco is truly a standout spot with its fantastic food, inviting atmosphere, and exceptional service. If you're in West Orange, NJ, make sure to stop by and treat yourself to this...
Read moremy grub hub driver texted me when that he arrived at the restaurant, the staff told him that another grub hub driver took the food, despite the fact that he was assigned to pick up the food. the grub hub driver instructed me to contact grub hub to rectify the issue. When I talked to grub hub they offered to reorder the food since I never got it the first time. The grub hub rep then reordered the food on their end. A lady from the restaurant then called me after the reorder was placed stating that I would be charged twice. I told them that I would not be paying twice. I also said that and that is completely inappropriate because why would I pay twice for food that I did not receive the first time. the lady put me on hold and then told me that her manager would contact grub hub. Did not hear back from the restaurant so I had to contact grub hub again to make sure that I would not be charged twice for the food. Grubhub was the one that reassured me that I would not be charged twice. This restaurant is completely inappropriate and has horrific customer service.Don't care how the food tastes, never come to this...
