I am currently sitting at Oko Fine restaurant on April 5, 2024 at 11:28pm. I order the Suya Steak Taco which comes with Jollof rice on the side as you can see in the picture. First thing, the waitress Angelica when she took my order acted like she was uninterested and did not want to be there. Secondly, when she brought out my food the Jollof rice was cold and the Suya Taco had Bbq sauce in it. I am Ghanaian and I never had Suya with Bbq sauce and the meat was also cold. The waitress came over and I informed her that the food especially the Jollof rice was cold and she turns to say “you ate it though.” You can obviously tell from the picture that I barely touched the side of Jollof rice. All that I did was flatten the rice and tasted it but to her “I ate the rice.” Also I ate one Taco out of the three that was served. Instead of her trying to rectify the situation, she responds with that rude comment. Then minutes later she brings me a take away container and a bag like I want to take this food home. Honestly, I will never come back to this establishment or spend my money here again. I am so disappointed because I was excited to come and support an African business. The owner needs to pick better waitress and don’t send out cold food.

I love supporting Black-owned businesses and this one I would definitely give a four out of five. The food options were wide and everything was tasty in the Sunday brunch menu. As someone who hasn’t had very good experiences with African food or African restaurants, this one was definitely a standout. The service overall was okay. At opening time they were still preparing and setting up so we waited a little bit, but everything turned out nice. The owner came out and took some pictures and a video of the buffet. He was VERY NICE and gave us suggestions on how to make seafood tacos 🌮 from the buffet. The atmosphere was great. The only thing I would mention is that there was a heavy smell of bleach that caused a bit of a sinus flare for me so I had to sit close to the exit. After I left, I didn’t feel too great and that’s the only reason keeping me from returning. 🥹

2024: Sat at the bar. 1st the good. The food, drinks and wait staff are terrific. Perfectly Fried Snapper (Our crispy deep fried mouthwatering snapper). Pleasantly surprised by their take on the beef taco. Love the "The Aunt" (Amaretto, Irish Crème, Coffee Liqueur and Aromatic Bitters). And you gotta try Fried Basa Bites (Perfectly fried in our house batter served with our house bang bang sauce). Now the not so good. It tough to get a reservation. This is an out growth from the owners (a really great guy) catering business now conducted in a brick & mortar. My suggestion is to just show up in the hopes that there is space at the bar. This place is well worth it.

The fact that I even took time to write this speaks volumes. This place is simply amazing!

OKO Fine Dining, located in the heart of West Orange, NJ, is a culinary gem that offers an extraordinary dining experience. From the moment we stepped through its doors, we were greeted with an ambiance that perfectly blends elegance with comfort, setting the stage for a memorable meal.

The star of the show was undoubtedly the food. Each dish was a masterpiece of flavors and presentation, showcasing a level of culinary artistry that is rare to find. The menu, a delightful fusion of contemporary and traditional cuisine, had options that catered to every palate. The ingredients were clearly of the highest quality, fresh and cooked to perfection, ensuring every bite was a celebration of taste.

But what truly elevated our dining experience at OKO was the impeccable service, especially by our waitress, Shakira. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and her recommendations were spot on, enhancing our meal with dishes we might not have tried otherwise. Shakira's attentive, yet unobtrusive service made us feel valued and taken care of. Her warm and friendly demeanor added a personal touch to our evening, making it not just a dinner but a truly delightful experience.

OKO Fine Dining is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary journey that leaves you longing for your next visit. Whether it's the phenomenal food, the elegant ambiance, or the exceptional service, OKO stands out as a must-visit destination for anyone looking for an amazing dining experience in...

Please don't walk but RUN here!

My waitress Judy hosted the most amazing experience last night for us! From the moment we walked in, the music drew me in. The DJ was amazing & he had me dancing in my seat & even on my way to the bathroom 😆 There were 2 people celebrating a birthday there & I loved the interaction between the staff/guest to celebrate.

Judy recommended the Wild Thoughts cocktail for me & I LOVED it. It's their version of a spicy margarita & it's not too spicy so thr flavors were well balanced. I prefer them more spicy, so if you do too, just mention that. I can't remember the name of the drink my bf had but it was on the sweeter side, like a rum punch & it's listed right below the Wild Thoughts cocktail.

Now the fooooooodddd 😮‍💨 We got the oxtail quesadillas, the jollof rice stir fry and the 20oz ribeye. When I say EVERYTHING was savory, filling & delicious I mean it. The price matches the portions you receive which I was so grateful for. So let me repeat, 🗣THEY DO NOT SKIMP ON THE FOOD!

Judy also mentioned to us that they do BRUNCH on Sundays & internally I said "Just start a tab & take my money girl" because I love a good brunch! Thank you so much for this beautiful experience & I can't wait...
