Came here last night after seeing the great reviews. Who reviewed this place? Fried food, bread crumb, sauce hungry people i am assume who would be willing to eat sushi in a dirty place like this.
We sat down and were given the options of a miso soup and salad. The table was nothing but sticky. The whole place looks like a dumpster. Paint is falling off the walls, not a single decoration, and the kitchen is right next to the toilet. When i say right next the kitchen/sushi bar leads into some rusty toilet with slimy floors and some old cigarette bud holding plate that is leaned against the door to keep it open. Special roll prices soar in the $11.95-$18.95 range with 6, maximum 7 pieces per roll. For that kind of money i am expecting a larger roll. Let's talk about fried rolls. For the love of God or whomever, fried rolls with cream cheese and sauce on top? That is not sushi, that is just feeding most people what they are most hungry for. We ordered a sashimi plate to avoid the fried mess and got fish that was right out of the freezer. You could feel the icy crunch with each bite. Subpar quality tuna, cheap farm raised salmon and some red snapper sliced paper thin. 15 pieces for $20.
Then we ordered a few special rolls and even regular ones. 6 tiny pieces for Manhattan roll, again filled with ice cold paper thin fish wrapped in a chunk of rice. Not even seaweed paper. Do you need to get rid of the rice? Sure it's minimum $3-$5 extra per roll. You must be kidding. $11.95 for the manhattan roll and because it's a special roll now i need to pay an extra $5 to avoid the chunk of rice that costs pennies.
The waiters and waitresses just 3 high school students. Their name is not even on the electronic bill. You tip, and who knows where the tip goes.
This place is way beyond a quality, high end sushi place. For these kind of prices, one would expect quality in return. Not only we did not get the quality (because the first the we did home was to visit the bathroom), but also the quanitity was very dissatisfying as well.
You could pay $20-23 at an all you can eat sushi/sashimi place and receive much more food, better service and even decor. At least the kitchen won't lead into a slimy floored, rusty bathroom with...
Read moreMy husband and I come to Kim’s Sushi almost once a week and sometimes we found ourselves coming 2 times a week! We, especially I, LOVE Kim’s Sushi. I’ve never taken my business anywhere else and I find it very hard to try other sushi places since Kim’s Sushi makes exactly how I love my sushi! My favorite I use to get all the time was 2 orders of smoked salmon and recently I’ve been branching out and have been loving the volcano rolls. The employees are lovely; they notice every time we come in that we are reoccurring guests, and treat everyone so lovely. The employees are lovely as well as Mr. Kim himself.
Last weekend for Palm Sunday, since we could only eat fish, my husband and I came to Kim’s Sushi— taking advantage of the Fish Only day. Previously, we had been to the gym in which I had my hair tied up but I started developing a horrible headache once we got to Kim’s Sushi. A Headache shortly turned into a migraine and that caused me having to get up and leave immediately— feeling nauseous, wanting to faint, wanting to throw up even— while my husband was trying to check up on me yet trying to pay for our bill, it was hectic! Mr.Kim was there this evening and couldn’t help but notice my hurrying out the door without my husband as frequent customers; because my husband was trying to pay the bill as quickly as he could. Mr. Kim was asking what happened, realized what had happened and was quickly packing our things and said, “go go go!” Without a payment of our dinner once understanding what was going on.
Overall, the customer service here is phenomenal and I will continue to keep coming to Mr. Kim’s restaurants as long as...

I love fatty toro, so my fiancé decided to get the toro special to share. This came with two pieces of fatty toro sushi, and two pieces seared fatty toro sushi. Both were melt-in-your-mouth good. I preferred the seared one (I usually do) because of the slightly torched flavor, and because it's less oily.
Not only do I love fatty toro, but I also enjoy regular tuna. So for my entree, I went with the Tuna Set (spicy tuna roll, 4 tuna sushi, & 4 sashimi). I was a bit iffy about the spicy tuna roll because I think spicy rolls all taste the same - like spicy mayo. You usually can't taste the fish. It was slightly better in this case. While I'm not sure if I'd be able to identify the roll as tuna in a line-up, I do appreciated the added scallion in the roll. It gave it that extra flavor. Everything else was good. The set comes with a miso soup and salad. The salad is better than most comparable sushi places. They use romaine instead of wet, soggy iceberg. Fiancé had the salmon set, which was also good (I stole a few pieces).
After we were stuffed, they gave us a few more pieces of sushi on the house. I couldn't really tell what kind of fish it was because it was smothered in a combination of sweet sauces, which I did not care for. Still, a nice gesture.
I never really come to this town but next time I do, I'll definitely be back for...
