EDITED: January 2024. PBHC is under new ownership/management. Food is same but different, if that makes sense. Customer service is definitely not the same but it’s not bad.
We visited PBHC after a long day at the zoo. We entered the restaurant to an immediate smile, kind welcome and an open kitchen (which I love). The restaurant was immaculate - nothing was out of place, no trash, nothing sticky and floors were clean.
Note: There are a few bar stools (3 or 4) by the front window where you can sit and wait or eat your meal. They also have two small tables with two chairs per table for you to do the same.
We took a minute to look over the menu and the young lady taking our order was always ready to answer our questions and make recommendations. We ordered the four piece hot chicken (Combo A, extra hot), the chicken tender sandwich (Combo 1, hot), burger combo (because my four year old is a burger connoisseur), a kids chicken nuggets, small corn nuggets and a slice of Oreo cheesecake. Our total was roughly $36.
We ordered a soda with the burger combo and our daughter was very disappointed that we didn’t get an apple juice instead. I asked my husband to purchase a juice for her but instead it was kindly given to her by Mr. Abraham, the owner.
The food was ready in a very short time and we took it to go. As we were grabbing our food, Mr. Abraham asked the young lady that took our order to give us a complimentary brownie. We were super grateful and went on our way.
My oldest daughter is VERY picky - so I knew I was risking it by buying her the chicken nuggets from an unfamiliar establishment BUT to my surprise she ate them all and loved it. She claims they were spicy (they weren’t, just nicely seasoned - which she complains about here at home too) but delicious! She also loved the fries that is sprinkled with (we believe) ranch seasoning.
Note: The fries were soggy by the time we got home but we expect that with any kind of fries in a to go order. That’s not the fault of the restaurant. We ate them anyway because RANCH SEASONING!
The four piece leg and thigh came with two slices of bread and fries. The online menu says it was supposed to come with cole slaw, pickles and sauce but I didn’t receive that in our to go order. I didn’t mind about the missing pickles and cole slaw but I was disappointed about the sauce because I love a good sauce. Back to the chicken - HOLY CRUNCH! Even after the ride home (20 min) and the time it took to get everyone else’s food out and served - I sat down and bit into the most beautiful sounding and tasting crunchy (without heavy breading) chicken leg. You literally heard it. Mindblown! It was delicious. Perfectly cooked, moist and seasoned beautifully. I must admit the ex-hot was too hot for me and I felt the burn but it was sooooooo good that I happily ate it.
NOTE: Heat comes in the form of dry rub/seasoning and not sauces.
My husband had the chicken tender sandwich and it was GOOD! The bread was fresh and soft but it held up well - it is the perfect bread for this sandwich. The chicken was hot - which was the perfect amount of heat. My only suggestion would be to order the combo with the extra tender and put it in the sandwich, the sandwich needs more than one tender because the bread to chicken ratio is uneven. Nonetheless, delicious all around.
Our youngest said that her burger was good but she ended up only eating half of it as she was exhausted and just wanted to sleep by the time we got home.
Our Oreo cheesecake was creamy and the chocolatey brownie was decadent- I’m not sure which was better. I don’t know if the desserts are homemade but they surely tasted like they were and they were the perfect end to our meal.
This morning, my oldest daughter asked me if we can go back to this restaurant because she LOVED the chicken nuggets. That is a huge compliment from her, believe me. In conclusion, will definitely be returning because good food and kindness from the owner and staff goes a long way in the food business nowadays and this...
Read moreI recently tried Jaws Hot Chicken & Seafood in Palm Beach, and my experience was a mix of hits and misses. Here’s a detailed breakdown of each item:
Jalapeno Bites – 2/5: The jalapeno bites were the first disappointment. In the pictures, they looked like cheese-filled balls, but the actual product did not match that expectation. The seasoning had three levels, but rather than increasing spiciness, it only made them saltier at each level. If you’re expecting a fiery kick, you will likely be disappointed.
Chicken – 5/5: The chicken was undoubtedly the highlight. Compared to Buds or KFC, it stood out with its soft, juicy interior and perfectly crispy exterior. The pieces were generously sized, cooked to perfection, and extremely flavorful. If you’re going to order one thing here, it should be the chicken—it’s that good.
Tilapia Fillet – 3/5: The tilapia fillet was thin and didn’t taste fresh. While it was edible, it lacked the flavor and texture that would make it memorable. A decent option if you want fish, but nothing remarkable.
Catfish Fillet – 3/5: Similar to the tilapia, the catfish fillet was very thin and underwhelming in flavor. It didn’t have the freshness or seasoning I was hoping for, and it definitely didn’t match the quality of the chicken.
Shrimps – 2.5/5: The shrimp was average. The coating was okay but didn’t have much flavor, and the shrimp itself wasn’t particularly special. It was edible, but I wouldn’t order it again.
Fries – 5/5: The fries were excellent. Crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned, they were one of the highlights of the meal.
Onion Rings – 5/5: The onion rings were a standout. Golden, crispy, and flavorful, they had the perfect crunch and a nice balance of sweetness from the onion. Definitely worth trying alongside the chicken.
Bread Pieces & Sauces: Each box came with two bread pieces, which were decent and soft. The variety of sauces provided were nicely packed and added a good amount of flavor options for the meal.
Summary: Jaws Hot Chicken & Seafood delivers an excellent chicken experience with fries and onion rings that are equally satisfying. On the other hand, the seafood options—including fish fillets and shrimp—fall short in freshness and flavor, and the jalapeno bites lean more toward salty than spicy. Overall, it’s a mixed experience: a must-try for chicken lovers, but seafood enthusiasts might want to manage...
Read moreDriving up to Orlando from Miami and was looking for some Halal options along the way. Found a few referenced online suggesting this place so called in to confirm and the employee who picked up the phone was BEYOND RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. I asked if the meat they serve is halal and she said “I don’t know what that is” to which I explained the concept as something similar to Kosher and expressed that I saw some reviews online that referenced the meat as Halal. She said “well the owners are Arabic so that’s a them thing, I wouldn’t know” followed by silence. First of all, ARABIC is a language not an ethnicity - that would be Arab. After a moment of awkward silence I said “…okay… well are the owners there?” And she said “yes”. I had to follow up with “okay well can you ask them?” She thought she placed me on hold but instead I heard her rambling “that’s not an American thing”. WHAT is that even supposed to mean?? I was born and raised in this country and last time I checked, respecting each other including our differences is a thing. When she returned on the phone, the attitude continued and she hung up the phone while I was still speaking to her. Safe to say, we rerouted making sure to avoid this place. No food is worth customer...
