I recently had the pleasure of dining at A Light in the Attic, a charming new restaurant owned by my good friend Claire. From the moment I stepped through the side entrance with its discreet signage, I felt transported to a bygone era, as if I had stumbled upon a secret speakeasy. The entryway, reminiscent of a cozy study with its bookshelves, sets the tone for an evening filled with mystery and intrigue. The main dining room and bar, hidden behind an elegant curtain, unfold like a journey through time. The immediate rush of life, energy, and emotions as you make your way to your table is truly an amazing experience. The layout, atmosphere, and decor are beyond expectation. The attention to detail creates an ambiance that is both intimate and enchanting. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like you've discovered a well-kept secret. Now, I'm not usually a food-driven person, but the menu is a game-changer. From the delectable scallop appetizer to the mouthwatering lobster toast, every dish surpassed my expectations. I can confidently say that it was the best meal I've had in years, and I find myself unable to stop thinking about the incredible flavors and presentations. A Light in the Attic isn't just a restaurant; it's an invitation to share unforgettable moments with close friends and family. I'm eager to bring my loved ones here to enjoy great drinks, amazing food, and engaging conversations in this hidden haven. Claire has truly created a masterpiece, and I can't recommend A Light in the Attic highly enough. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a unique dining experience that goes beyond the ordinary.

Overall I wouldn't go back, but my friends loved it! Atmosphere is very welcoming and different. Drinks are hand crafted and food is not your average menu. So high marks in all those areas. I just didn't enjoy my experience. Being vegan makes eating out tough, so I was thrilled to see a vegan side and main course option. I had the Moroccan carrots which were interesting and tasty, but not extraordinary, especially for $18. I also had the Miso caraflex for my main course. The server warned me that it was spicy and I was ok with that. Vegan food needs lots of flavor and I like some spice, but oh my!!!!! It was hot with chili pepper paste and oil. So unfortunately it was so hot and the heat kept building to the point that my mouth was on fire and I couldn't taste anything else. When I asked the server if there was anything they could do, they kindly brought me extra vegan yogurt sauce to help with the heat. It did help but I was almost afraid to eat much more because it was so very spicy. So I was disappointed with the only vegan option being a super spicy one and it wasn't offered to adjust the heat if need be. So after paying $45 for food that was beautiful but disappointing, I went across the street to Wendy's for some fries. 🤣

Food was amazing but our service wasn’t the best. My boyfriend made reservations for my birthday and under the reservation he had mentioned it was my birthday. It was both our first time at this restaurant. Our Server; Gram did not acknowledge my birthday when my boyfriend mentioned it nor said anything when he checked my ID. The two couples beside us were also celebrating anniversaries and they both received acknowledgement, as well as recommendations for drinks, food, and desserts. (Tables are close, we can hear everything) Our food came about an hour and half later; meanwhile the couples beside us who arrived after us, had already received their food, one of the couples even noticed that we were waiting for a long time. We also noticed the tone Gram would speak to the other couples was a lot more cheerful and excited compared to us. My boyfriend and I are Black and Hispanic and we both felt discriminated and uncomfortable. We loved the food and loved the ambiance of the restaurant but if we go back we would definitely ask for a different server.

We just had a culinary journey at this splendid restaurant…and it was nothing short of mind blowing.

From the moment we booked our table online to the instant we were graciously welcomed at our seats, the experience was seamless. The ambiance is elegant and warm. The menu is a masterful choice of flavors and interesting, unique offerings.

Our cocktails were a delicious preparation for the insanely delicious appetizers. Our shared plates were pure artistry with exquisite tastes. The entrees were the crescendo of this delightful experience! Both of our meals included a flavors that were both novel and delectable. Our eyes were rolling back in bliss.

The service throughout the evening was impeccable…. attentive with discretion. It was evident that every detail was meticulously thought-out by experts to ensure a fabulous dining experience.

We’re already anticipating our next visit. This restaurant is not just a place to dine; it’s a destination for an extraordinary date night, an adventure in flavors and ambiance. Truly, it is a gem!! Welcome to West Reading, Light...
