Absolutely fantastic. My family and I booked a room before quarantine, and they were very pleasant and patient with us the million times we had to reschedule due to nerves about the virus. There were six of us in a private room, and it was the vampire room, which did worry my mom and I a bit initially—the original party was a bunch of cynical teenagers, and the group we arrived with was two adults, two teens, and two pretty young kids. However, we found that the room was a perfect balance of easy and challenging! The younger kids had plenty to do to participate, and the older players could handle the ‘scary’ or more challenging puzzles no problem. Don’t get me wrong—it was HARD. We only had a few minutes left on the clock. But it was well-balanced! I also liked how they set up the clues—you get two clues, and a third if you follow the Instagram account. This was absolutely thrilling to me, pulling out that clue at the half way point by showing myself following the account felt like an ex-machina moment.
All that aside, even though my party had a good time, I would like to say that I do NOT recommend taking children into the hardest room—which should be obvious—but be warned that lots of the loud noises and lights did trigger my younger brother’s autism. He felt wayyy overstimulated, and although I felt like that was more our fault than the room’s, be warned and maybe don’t bring sensitive children into an escape room with jumpscares. Who knew, right?
My only genuine criticisms of the room are that I felt it lacked audio cues and the clues were delayed. No spoilers, but there were a few times when we weren’t sure if we had solved a puzzle until we read the screen. My dad and I agreed after the fact that if there were more audio cues indicating the solving of puzzles, we wouldn’t have been confused as often. We also spent a lot of time waiting for the clues, and I feel like the timer should’ve frozen until the clue actually showed up since everyone had to be at the table and nobody could be off solving puzzles while we waited for the clue. It ate up a bit of our time, and if we had been waiting any longer on some of the clues, we may not have escaped.
Overall, a FANTASTIC experience. We were all buzzing about it long after we’d left, and we felt satisfied combining the knowledge we already had with the puzzles in the room. Thanks so much for a...
Read moreFirst let me say - these are solid games. If you are new to games - sure, go here. However, Encrypted came up several times in enthusiast discussions and it just didn't live up to my expectations as a "destination game."
Biker's revenge - 3/5. Their oldest and worst game. It's been a while since I've been this frustrated in a game. The scene is great. The first half of the game was going well. Then the second half quickly fell apart and didn't flow as well. There is one particular puzzle that was terrible (and dated) and really turned me off from the whole rest of the game.
Vikings 4/5. A fine game. Nothing earth shattering - but solid game. Made sense and had continuity. One puzzle could become a major time suck - but it was a unique time suck - so it was still interesting.
Vampire 5/5. Fun for small jump scare. Well put together and the clues flowed better in here. Used "lights" to direct your attention to where you should focus - which was a unique and cool element I had not experienced before.
Again - if you are in the area go for it - but I don't think it is worth driving from KOP to get to as a "destination"...
Read moreWe are visiting family here in the Wyomissing/Reading area from out of town. I mentioned to my brother and sister in law that I had done 1 escape room experience in CA and thought they'd really enjoy something like this. When I Google searched escape rooms in this area Encrypted popped up and it was 5 mins away. So we reserved and did 2 rooms on 2 separate days: Galactic War and Viking Raid. While we did not escape Galactic War, it was still a very fun room to experience!! Both rooms were well laid out and the puzzles were challenging, entertaining and fun! We will definitely be back!!! Loved the Viking room and all it had to offer! We escaped with 1 minute to spare!! The staff were very friendly, well informed and service was fantastic. Easy to check in and fill out waivers if needed (you can do them advance online). We loved it here and highly recommend! Thank you...
